Hey All,

After reading 900 odd posts on the other US Dividend Miles thread, I (and a few others) agree that a separate thread for successful award bookings should be started that will give all of us a concise, very concise, summary of all the bookings that have been made using our beloved US Dividend Miles.

As more and more people get interested with US DM, especially during promotional periods, this thread could provide a handy snapshot of what type of itineraries have been booked, and potential flyers can then replicate or use some of those routing ideas for their own bookings.

I hope we can stick to successful bookings posts only, and to kick things along, these are some of the bookings I have made for myself, family, and/or friends in 2011:-

SYD-xBKK-IST//FCO-xBKK-SYD (F)
SYD-xBKK-IST-ATH-xBKK-SYD (C)
SYD-xBKK-CDG//FCO-xBKK-SYD (F)
SYD-xBKK-LHR//MUC-xBKK-SYD (C)
AMS-xMUC-BKK-SYD-xBKK-xHKG-xZRH-AMS (F)
AMS-xFRA-xICN-BKK-SYD-xBKK-xICN-xFRA-AMS (F)
SYD-xBKK-LHR-xZRH-BOM-xBKK-SYD (F)

I'll also add
SYD-ICN-LAX//JFK-ICN-SYD (F with OZ)

:)

Good to see fresh start on this subject.

BKK seems to be the common denominator for return flights to SYD. I found seats hard to get. Maybe so at short notice.

MEL-BKK-FRA-EDI//EDI-FRA-xBKK-MEL (J TG,LH) - travelled 23Dec, booked at just 5 days notice!
120k + 451USD

SYD-BKK-LHR//LHR-BKK-MEL (F, J BKK-MEL TG) - 20hr overnight 'stop' BKK outbound
150k + 412USD

MEL-BKK-OSL-LHR//LHR-ZRH-BKK-MEL (J TG, SK, LX) - booked at 4 days notice, no avail. LHR <> BKK
120k + 463USD

...all heavy taxes due to LHR.

SYD-BKK-FRA-DME//LED-MUC-BKK-SYD

All F to Europe on TG, Intra Europe J on LH.

Good new thread.

I would ask people to include the number of miles (cause we know US is not consistent in this area) and taxes. I am particularly interested in the fees that some EU airports are starting to charge - I am looking at you LHR.

Anyway, bookings last 12 months for friends and family.

MEL-BKK-FRA-HEL//ZRH-BKK-MEL (TG,LH) J/F 2 pax - 150,000 miles each and USD240 taxes inc booking fee each
MEL-BKK-DEL//BOM-BKK-MEL (TG) J 5 pax (seperate flights) - 90,000 miles each and USD140 taxes inc booking fee each
MEL-BKK-CDG//CDG-BKK-MEL (TG) J 2 pax - 120,000 miles each and USD280 taxes inc booking fee each
MEL-BKK-FRA-HEL//IST-SIN-MEL (TG, TK, SQ) J 2 pax- 120,000 miles each and USD260 taxes inc booking fee each
MEL-BKK-MNL//MNL-BKK-MEL (TG) J 2 pax- 90,000 miles each and USD140 taxes inc booking fee each
MEL-BKK-FRA-JFK//EWR-xZRH-BKK-MEL - (TG, LX, UA, LH) J 1 pax- 110,000 miles each and USD220 taxes inc booking fee
DEL-ZRH//ZRH-BKK - (LX, TG) J 1 pax - 90,000 miles each and USD180 taxes inc booking fee

Now that I look at it that is quite a few bookings. I think that Alanslegal and I am making hay whilst that sun shines down!

MEL-BKK (overnight <24hrs) -LAX-ASP//DEN-LAX-BKK-MEL
2 Pax, J Class (internal US flights are Y due to no J/F cabin), Jan/Feb 2012

Out of interest when I made the booking there was only 2 seats available, but after booking, another 2 on Thai had opened up.

Total cost all up was $1880 per person. I think the taxes/fees were around $240 pp including $50 admin fee.

Great idea about this separate thread. I'm new to this whole thing and even I got sick of some of the questions. After lots of reading have successfully booked Syd-Bkk-Fco//Mad-Bkk-Syd for a family of 4, 2 F and 2J. Taxes $116US pp. Only problem is we live in Melb and will have to make our own way there. Just read about some having success at getting United flights from Melb to Syd. How do you do this? Had a look on Aeroplan and United sites but can't find anything.

This is probably better on the other thread ;) but UA fly MEL-SYD-LAX. MEL-SYD cannot be sold on it's own however so if you search for it that way it probably won't show up...search for MEL - LAX and you may see it. ANA clearly indicates the stop.

I believe the flight would connect with the TG afternoon departure, but miss the morning one.

Gee god help us if Thai decides to tighten up on award inventory! Guess probably won't happen till they start to bring the A380 on board but it is definitely the common factor at the moment!

Just booked 4 seats to Europe next June/July on TG with 2 in F and 2 in J (allowing us to all be on the same aircraft). There are four of us travelling (2 adults + 2 children) and this was the only way to get us all on the same aircraft.

Itinerary:

SYD-BKK (TG472)
BKK-FRA (TG922)

MXP-BKK (TG941)
BKK-SYD (TG475)

costs were 150,000/120,000 (F/J) and US$174.27 per person in taxes and booking fees

There are 12-13 hour transits in BKK each way (plenty of time to enjoy the F lounge and maybe see some sights). There were tighter connections but USAir let me do these ones as they still count as direct. No stop-overs as the route is open-jaw.

Unfortunately for MELbourians you can only do this 2J+2F booking on TG aircraft that have F seats which means you must go SYD-BKK and not MEL-BKK because the MEL flight has no F seats.

I decided it wasn't worth the hassle of having two of us fly MEL-BKK and two SYD-BKK with a meetup in BKK so we're all going to position in SYD via QFF points and that lets us fly together on the same aircraft on all legs.

Just be aware that if you do go sight seeing you'll probably have to pay the 700B departure tax when you try to go airside again.

Friend has successfully booked the following to the U.S. x 2 in May

J SYD - ICN (overnite)
J ICN - LAX
J SEA - SYD via ICN

110 000 miles and $140 in taxes

Excellent !!!!

Great thread Idea.

I've only done the one booking so far:

BNE-BKK-ZRH-CDG//FRA-IST-BKK-BNE all J - 120k and ~$190. Combination of Thai, Swiss and Turkish.

Booked a bit late hence wasn't able to get direct flights.

Looking for an AUS->Europe->North America booking next, so keen to see what people have had success with previously.

Excellent thread and very helpful just booked 2 in F SYD-BKK TG, BKK-FRA TG FRA-Prague LH returning Amsterdam- FRA LH, FRA- ICN LH, ICN-BKK TG then BKK-SYD TG for 150,000 DM plus $320 taxes and fees. Stopping in BKK on way over.

Just flew this last week:

BNE > AKL > LAX > ORD
ORD > SEA (overnight) - SEA > ICN > SYD

All on one booking in J international (F domestic USA)

Amazing deal.

I'll have to do a trip report.

AKL > LAX in J on AirNZ was fantastic on the new 773 lucked out also and had a equipment change on BNE > AKL from the 763 to 772.

SEA > ICN > SYD was a little tedious in J Asiana on some pretty dated A330 & 772 but service was great.

I love AFF, thanks for bringing this deal to my attention, already loaded up on points for next year!
