I am lead to believe from a trusted source that Velocity/Virgin will announce tomorrow a tie up with Flybuys/Coles to earn Frequent Flyer Points AND Status credits . Stay tuned.

Now I am a bit torn. Would not mind the points but not sure it is worth handing over my spending/ purchasing patterns etc to Wesfarmers and their data houses.

If this turns out to be correct it'll be interesting to see how the current BP and Shell arrangements pan out.
More pain for Woolies.

Is this the first time you've been able to earn SC without flying?

I realise that T&Cs require some flying, as does attaining any level so status, but for the occasional flyer it seems a good way to top up the SC balance.

There has been some one off credit card offers that had SC included – but this appears to be the first regular offer to earn SC

Still need to have the eligible sectors

Remove the max. 10 SC p/mth bit and I'd reconsider my current arrangements. Can't make it too attractive for the punters though.

Yeah I think it is? - we spend about 300 on the weekly groceries, so it's now 156 SCs / yr easier to maintain VA SG. So only 244 SCs required from flying. If you're an infrequent VA flyer why wouldn't you switch to Coles?

EDIT: Ahh right the max is 120 SC / yr with 280 remaining. still....

hmm... so based on quick math...a coles mastercard which earns 2 fb points per dollar would equate to 0.87 velocity points per dollar spent on the cc. in the current market this doesn't look too bad as a companion to amex?

So with the 15% transfer bonus until Nov 30th it looks like a 2:1 Flybuys to Velocity transfer ratio, is that right?

Pretty happy to hear about this deal. We do all our grocery shopping at Coles and I'd never really bothered with using flybys. Kind of wish I had now as I would have amassed a decent total if I had bothered to get the card out.. logged into my old account and there is 6000 there at least. Better than nothing.

Should be able to get 5-10 status credits a month as well which will be handy. Should help me get to platinum this coming year as my planned travel had me about 10-20 status credits short.
