Interested in reviewing the T&Cs on family pooling and how giftcards will be treated for SC earn.
Paradoxically may make me fly VA less, for this year at least.

Same as EY deal including the SC offer. Have quite a balance of FB now due to GC offers. Had been accumulating towards an EY redemption but didn't want yet another loyalty program. Can now send to VA. Shame about the annual transfer cap or I'd transfer all of my balance with the 15% bonus. Guess that way shouldn't get much more competition for scarce reward seats.

This won't necessarily change our shopping habits, but it's a nice little bonus for when we do shop at Coles

Should be able to get 5-10 status credits a month as well which will be handy. Should help me get to platinum this coming year as my planned travel had me about 10-20 status credits short.

I should print this out, laminate it and wave it front of all those people who are bound to laugh at 10SC per month, say it won't even get you from Red to Silver or say it's cheaper to earn them flying... because the Flybuys SCs earn is not mean to replace your SC bounty of flying, it's there to do exactly what you've mentioned – to 'top up' an account which is just short of the necessary SCs to bump up into the next tier or retain an existing tier.

We've all seen people asking about how to close that gap of 20-50SCs and until now it's just been a quick status run. Now they can turn their shopping across the course of a year into a small but steady trickle of SCs which could well obviate the need for that last-minute run.

SC earning spend "excludes tobacco and tobacco related products, charity donations and gift card purchases."

Will be interesting to see how they treat thrid party giftcards under those conditions

Possibly but 10 SC month is $1000 a month at Coles / Liquor. That's a fairly hefty spend. The flight would be much cheaper and you'd get to go somewhere :D

The flight would be, but not everybody is interested in flying just for the sake of flying and earning SCs – I'd wager that the vast majority of people simply wouldn't have the time for that, let alone inclination. And needn't be 10SCs per month – half that is a far more realistic spend for a family ($500/month on groceries) and would net 60Scs over the course of a year, still a decent gap-filler.

As a single person , the SC credits is not going to do much for me . It will be interesting as to what Coles/FB do with there bonus offers going forward. Will i still get the spend $XX for 4 weeks and get XXthousand FB points ?

Or create the need.

Someone earning a mid range number of SCs might find the 10 SC earn per month pushes them close enough to the next level where they might contemplate a run that they otherwise wouldn't have considered.

Every true AFF'er is interested in the flying ;)

But yes I take your point, it will not change my shopping habits at all, each to their own

Yep. That offer's on right now, also a "10x points on your biggest shop at Coles for spend over $100" coming up 26-29 Oct.

As someone that also picks up bits and pieces for my office while Im doing my regular shopping, spent $100 yesterday on chocolate, mints and a particular coffee my boss likes that was on special, its an extra earner for me.

Just linked our accounts and already transferred points for the 15% bonus.

I only started using Flybuys when Etihad joined Flybuys so I had quite a bundle of points already.

Now I really need to burn some points but its too early to plan 2018.

As a family of 5 (with late teens) I spend $300 a week on groceries + extra $50 for additional milk, bread, fruit and Veg etc during the week. We have 105 meals a week, so assuming all $350 was on food (even though there is soaps and toiletries and cleaners etc) it averages out at $3.33 PP per meal - hardly lavish.

While I dream of the day I do, I currently don't see $1000 a month as a hefty spend.

What about Family Pooling ;)

Don't know if this is going to work.....I have a feeling the "household" is the account holder so everyone living at that address has to be linked, though a look through the terms and conditions I have not been able to locate this.

For Velocity Family pooling you must reside at the same address - therefore the "household" and family pooling would be from the one flybuy account.

Would love to be wrong about this however they will be exchanging information with each other and would be very easy to locate people using this loop hole and as Velocity has shown recently - investigate and close down accounts.
