Shop to Fly Faster - Transfer Flybuys to Velocity

Same here, I got an additional card for my husband and both cards show as the one account. Not sure if the number on his card is the same, will have to check that when he gets home, as the Ts & Cs state:

  • Once the accounts have been successfully linked, this linked Velocity Frequent Flyer member will earn Status Credits when they scan their flybuys card on eligible purchases at Coles, Coles Online, Liquorland and First Choice Liquor.
I know both cards can still earn Flybuys points, but just wondering whether the reference to "their" Flybuys card means if the Flybuys account is linked to my husband's Velocity account, whether it has to be HIS Flybuys card scanned for the SC earn?

ETA: Have just checked our FB account and his card is a different number, so looks might swap cards with him (I do practically all the grocery shopping anyway) and swipe his card instead just in case!
The overall household flybuys account is linked to the nominated Velocity account. All of the spending across the cards in the household (which have the same first 14 digits) at Coles, Liquorland and First Choice Liquor counts towards the earning of Status Credits. Hope this helps.

Our family account has over 150K FB points - that's worth at least $750.

So, I can convert $640 worth of those to 60,030 + 9,005 velocity.

That's 93¢ per 100 points; without the 15% promotion it is 107¢ per 100 points.

I had to phone Flybuys as apparently my Birthday was listed 1903. ;) Sometimes I do that the evade people stealing my ID. :D

Presumably you could do the annual limit < 30 November and the rest on 01 Jan... if not in a hurry to use them asap.

Same as EY deal including the SC offer. Have quite a balance of FB now due to GC offers. Had been accumulating towards an EY redemption but didn't want yet another loyalty program. Can now send to VA. Shame about the annual transfer cap or I'd transfer all of my balance with the 15% bonus. Guess that way shouldn't get much more competition for scarce reward seats.

I thought the 2 Fly Buys points per $1 on Coles Reloadable mastercard was pretty good, especially since you can load it with a Mastercard (I have CBA Diamond MC).
= 1.125 per $1 spent :)

I too spend way more than $1000 a month on food and grog (food obviously much greater than grog  )
The prospect of needing to send this to Coles for 10SC is not an attractive one.
I appreciate I may be an outlier here. A decent earn rate for the points would be a better proposition for me.

I wouldn't go out of my way to change spending patterns for 10SC. W

Will I link my accounts to take whatever SCs my current spend will get me? Absolutely.

That's terrific, thank you! Much appreciated :)

i think you'll have to check the terms on that one. i always thought the reloadable one paid 1 point per $2.

Have just had a look at the Coles MC website, and the reloadable MC is definitely 1 point per $2 spent in Australia, and 1 point for $1 spent overseas. The No Annual Fee MC is 1 point for $2 (regardless of where the spend takes place).

I just looked at the deal I signed up under for the Coles M/C (Not a Coles Rewards M/C), and it says in the printed material that it is 2 points :1 "everywhere" I shop. I haven't used it since June, but yes, that was 1 pt : $2

I've been had. I'll call them up again and clarify.

EDIT, OK just called up and changed to the Coles REWARDS M/C which will be free for 1 year and provide 2 pts :$1. I'll cut up the plain M/C. Then in 12 months, I'll decide whether to go back to a freebie, if it is available, or pay $89.95 pa.

And, I got a very knowledgeable phone agent, it was a pleasure.

The SC are also 100% useless to me and I wouldn't shift spend to chase them, I just didn't think $1000/month is unrealistic for many.

We are currently using Coles as they deliver in our area and WW does not, so this is another option. WW in Tas don't allow QF earn so to earn FF points from grocery spend (excluding CC) FB is it.

More ways to earn frequent flyer points is always welcome.

However, I think the decision to also award status credits is the wrong one.

I agree.
I'll take whatever points and SC I can from anywhere, I'm happy to do so. The current earn rates are not something that will drive my spend to Coles.

Its just a small temptation to get people to switch to Coles. 120SC / year is hardly going to make any non FF or low revenue customers Gold or Plat.

Once you get your last 3.68% (to LTG) you might as well credit elsewhere on a just-in-case basis.
