Shop to Fly Faster - Transfer Flybuys to Velocity

Yes it won't make much of a dent but it could alter data that is usually deemed from status acquired from flying (very regular flyers) .Lounge access will have a higher influx, as people will find it easier to attain/keep silver at least.
The family pooling could for sure give unpredictable patterns.

I just wonder how family pooling will happen if a family has FB links when not at the same address ,but the main velocity will be this FB address.OK under FB but not really under velocity.

If 2 fam members have 2 separate fb and velocity at the same address and are pooling, it should basically still go over into the nominated velocity membership as it already should be doing.IMO

For Wingin..it, VA SC dies in 12 months.
Same as QF SC, you dont carry it for life.
You also loose status in 12 months if you dont fly regularly.

Hi flybuys,

Is there a way for flybuys to advise in their website how much has been spent in Coles/etc per month, and how many status credits are earned in that month? The reason I asked is that there is opportunity for flybuys to advise someone like me that I have spent (say) $480 this month, and I will probably go out of my way to spend extra $20 somewhere to get another status credit. Maybe even do it via email 7 days before end of month to remind your members potential additional SCs can be earned. Sure it is not much but it does add up and make a difference for someone.

I can see this being very attractive to people who travel on VA from time to time but not enough to get to Silver or Gold.

Cheers
Hi kamchatsky, thanks for the suggestion. At "My Account" you can view transactions by date range, by partner, although the transaction totals will include ineligible products (tobacco, gift cards and charitable donations). We agree that a "ready reckoner" per your suggestion could be quite helpful to members, and we'll suggest it to the wider team.

Australia's highest-earning Velocity Frequent Flyer credit card: Offer expires: 21 Jan 2025

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

As a single person , the SC credits is not going to do much for me . It will be interesting as to what Coles/FB do with there bonus offers going forward. Will i still get the spend $XX for 4 weeks and get XXthousand FB points ?

Have any relatives? Family pooling across extended relations can generate significant FB earnings and SCs if they have no use for them or you want to warehouse to greatest flyer (so gets mutliplier from Platinum ranking for example and added benefits...).

Every true AFF'er is interested in the flying ;)

But yes I take your point, it will not change my shopping habits at all, each to their own
That is the main point - no so called loyalty program should change your habits adversely.

If you can manage your spend (such as stocking up on half price or better specials rather than buying the same item every week or every second week at full price) then optimise your savings and your "loyalty benefits".

For example, the occasional "Get 250 Velocity points for any amount spent at BP - no minimum spend" does not alter my spending pattern significantly (nor any of our family's) but a $5 petrol top-up providing a $15+ value of points (based on last VFF redemption) using discounted BP gcs from earlier Amex promotion - works for us.

Im pretty sure I requested an additional card on my account and they are linked

When I or hubby signs in, we see the cards linked as one account with one point balance.

I transferred Flybuy points this morning and they are already in my Velocity account with the 15% bonus.

So time to pick up a new cardboard card and register it separately to establish a totally separate account then...

No third party gift card purchases are eligible for calculating Status Credits.

So just wanted to check - and apologies if this is a dumb question! - are purchases of Coles Gift Mastercards also excluded for calculating SCs? Thanks :)

I have stuck with the Jetstar Platinum Mastercard purely for the QF FF points and Woolies connection, but with the diminishing value of the points I will have to redo the maths of what is better value. I also use an AMAYSIM prepaid phone and refill it with a $10 purchase each time I get petrol, I pay for it with the card and get the double points from QFF and Woolies.I will have to weigh up moving to BP and the velocity card. The other advantage of the Platinum card has been the travel insurance.

Unclebobl, switch to Telstra prepaid and recharge at Coles supermarkets.
You can now port your phone no.
No need to prove id at Coles, with
driving licence and passport you can prove id on Telstra website.
Bonus Flybuy points at Coles, 2 bonus plus the 1 point per $1 equals triple.

Maybe a higher limit that just gets you to silver. The benefits at Silver may be attractive to those of us that are perennially at level Dirt

For Unclebobl, also mentioned on here, no VRewards bonus points earned on mobile phone recharges at BP or OTR in SA so maybe (need to) go Telstra to earn more/most.

Possibly but 10 SC month is $1000 a month at Coles / Liquor. That's a fairly hefty spend. The flight would be much cheaper and you'd get to go somewhere :D

Yes but the main target is Flybuys. Because Coles offer bonus points I have accumulated a little over 100,000 points this last year.

To earn more than 138,000 flybuys in a year you would have to be a business which I guess is where the CAP is aimed.

I have only ever received a one bonus offer of 250 woolies points. Otherwise it is all geared to alcohol offers.

You can earn over 138,000 a year by using the targeted offers system well and using the extra points system for insurances and other services where your earn rate at Coles is increased by being a customer of some of the other flybuys partners. You don't have to have a huge weekly shop at Coles to get these amounts in flybuys points.

This isn't true.

It relatively easy, using some organisation, to earn more than this figure without operating a business.

The SCs are the main benefit for me
Although its not terribly hard to get over 1.2c value from a Velocity point, by the time you've factored in the forgone points compared to a paid ticket, the incremental benefit is not enormous. You already had EY redemptions which can offer decent arbitrage with the right city pairs

Of course you can but how many of us have so many temporary financial and personal arrangements in our lives that we can just cancel whenever we like and take up health ins, car ins and join a gym etc etc to harness all these points. So I guess the CAP will keep some of us safe from some psychotic episode.

I just did my first $100+ spend at Coles so will see how long my 1SC comes in and this card is linked to Hubbys so will see if it pools to him or stays with me.

I've estimated that for the year our SC earn was going to be 1900 SCs so I don't need them so I'm now checking out FlyBuy forum because I noticed I had 3 x $40 spends = 8000 points offer so I'm going to become that crazy person breaking up her purchases.

Actually our family members combined have earned over 138,000 flybuys points in a year without sign up bonuses and insurance points.

Not a problem, as long as I'm not the person stuck behind you in the queue LOLOL
