Can anyone advise whether row 5 is good on 777 in J? I have been pre-allocated 5H both ways for LAX. 1C is still open. Should i grab it? Never flown 777 in J before on VA.

Row 5 is awesome, it's separate from the main cabin and often used for celebrities or staff as it has a curtain that turns it into a private cabin.

I'd definitely go Row 5 personally.

I have tried several times to get this seat and I am always told it's not available unless I pay extra....... or they say it's booked and of course, no-one ends up sitting in it

Row 5 has been mentioned as being extremely private being a row to itself.

It all depends if you want to be seperate from everyone else or not?

I prefer the main J cabin as I don't like the claustrophobic feel of being in a a private, curtained off 2 (or 3) seat area. For me 1K is the go. 1K is not looked upon like AC DFG H are, and is at the bulkhead so its still very private. And if boarding through 2L you have to turn right to get to Row 5. Even though its J, its a psychological lift to turn left instead of right I think. And Row 5 is right where the bar is, so there's the light and noise of that to deal with.

:pWhat celebrity of any note would fly VA to LA :?::p
I saw Beyonce' and Jay Z (with kid, nanny & Jay Z's mate) take over all of row 5, for a recent holiday down under (i.e. non-promotional visit). I've even seen Aussie TV "stars" row fiving it.

Remember "Virgin" (as a brand) is big in A list circles, particularly the music industry (so I would expect VA to be capitalising on that). And if they have to fly commercial, then row 5 provides fantastic privacy, no one from business is allowed back past the curtains, and no one from premium is allowed forward past the curtains, and Virgin allows for the whole row to be booked out exclusively, with additional curtains along the aisles for even added privacy and sound isolation.

VA row 5, is becoming the "in" way to LA (or Oz).

Beyonce flies business on a commercial airline yet Justin Beiber and Oprah have private jets?!?

Qantas must have been booked out. I don't know of anyone on Aussie TV who qualifies as a "star" (you must agree from your quotation marks!)

My wife and I have flown BNE-LAX in 5 H&K and found it very private and not claustrophobic at all. When finished at the bar we simply closed the curtain and rested
Great seats...would have them again

Hello all-
Hoping you can help me. I'm very tall (over two metres) and flying to LA soon. The seat map suggests that seats 1A and 1C may have more legroom. Is this the case or is the opposite true and the bulkhead wall protrudes on the legroom? Just trying to figure out whether to keep seat 1C or swap to a regular aisle seat. I've never flown VA J class so very much looking forward to it!

Stick with 1C it's easier for you to get up. The pax in 1A will have to climb over your feet to go to the loo or the bar. 1C has good leg room

Hi, I am 190cm and recently flew to the USA, I had 1A both ways, on the way over with someone next to me and the way back 1C was vacant. Had not problem with room, and being the bulkhead was able to get across the next pax without any issues. Found I had plenty of room in bed mode.

FWIW I had 5K coming home via AUH the other day and it was very cosy and comfortable. I had a complete stranger (female) next to me and when they partitioned it off with the curtains it just felt a little odd. Perfect for couple. Maybe not so perfect for strangers. I didn't ask for this seat it was allocated to me.

Row 5 is the rockstar row! But - being curtained in with a stranger would be weird. There is the premium Y toilets at each side just behind, and a walkover with a premium Y bar. But the insulation from the curtains almost certainly dulls the noise from the vacuum toilets.....

Thanks very much for the advice. I kept Seat 1C and was happy I did -you get a little bit of extra legroom because of where the bulkhead partition ends and the aisle to the galley begins. Overall, I was pretty impressed with the VA product, particularly the food. The only letdown, which is mostly out of VA's control, was the arrivals process at DL's LAX Terminal. Small, dingy immigration/customs/baggage claim. The queue for immigration was fine. but the queue to get out of customs was ridiculously long as the DL flight from NRT had also recently arrived. They also announced that the VA baggage would come out on two separate reclaim belts and to keep an eye on both - not ideal!
