A question for the ladies (or gents that take an interest in your ladies travel gear)

Any suggestions for a hand bag during the day (big enough to carry a telephoto camera - so at least 15cm wide - something in the 45 x 25 x 15 range.) and the usual paraphernalia that husbands hand to you to carry while out for the day - wallet, phones, his compact camera, maps, tickets.

And then be used as your carry-on to take your Kindle, 11" lap-top etc.

MUST have a sleeve or some means of attaching to rolling suitcase.

I do like the Tumi, but the price is a bit over the top:

Down to something like this:

So, any suggestions that have worked for you?

I have several large handbags that I use for OS travel, but they don't have the sleeve to slide over the case handle.

So I bought the Lipault weekender bag for our last big trip, it probably is too big to use as a handbag, as it can get heavy to carry - but on a trolley case it is OK !

It would be perfect as a handbag if it was probably 15 cm shorter.

I am still looking for that perfect travel handbag

Keep watching this thread, hopefully someone has a bag that ticks all the boxes.
MrsDrRon, I also had that bag on my watch list.

I just use a pretty backpack for inflight purposes (itinerary folder, tablet, pj's, large camera) then a travel style material handbag with lots of pockets for wallet, phone, glasses etc. If I need a more upmarket bag eg on cruises, then I have a small black wristlet that takes phone, brush and cards. The backpack always sits over the handle of the suitcase. The travel handbag is large enough to hold a camera but not super large.

Occasionally I look at the Flyertalk "Women Travellers" thread - so I thought I would wander over and see whats current - they have a travel handbag thread too - currently this is popular and I like the look of it !!

Have a look at the Longchamp Le pilage bags. They come in lots of sizes & are nice enough to double as a handbag. If I'm using one with a suitcase I just sit it on top & hold onto both handles.

Looks like they only ship to the USA however could be handy if heading over there and ship to your hotel.

The usual price is USD138.00 and orders over USD100.00 receive free shipping however the Mocha one (third colour from right) is on sale for USD96.60 but you'd need to pay for shipping which starts at USD9.
00 unless you bought something else.

The baggalini bag is much cheaper on Amazon

And Amazon will ship it to Australia - just checked.

I have a friend that lives in Indiana, so I send her Tim Tams, (posting more today) she collects my USA shopping and posts it all in one parcel. (already have Marmot rain jacket & my hot flush pills waiting to be posted,) hence looking for bag now that can combine for the 1 shipping cost to Oz.
So. Yes, I look for free shipping on Amazon.

Hot flush pills? Do tell! :p

I bought a fabulous waterproof jacket from Amazon for about half the price you buy them from in OZ. That was before I cancelled the myus.com mailbox. The cough US exchange rate killed this now. Anyways, I just ordered one of those grey baggalini bags. Will work for our Alaska landtour where you have very limited day space. Think, three bags. One that goes straight to the cruise ship (filled with our Hawaii and cruise clothes); a day bag for the bus and train, and another bag that gets shipped from lodge to lodge each night.

When I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, my boss (health nut) said "don't go on BP pills, take these blood cleansing tablets" At the time I was just starting to get hot flushes (and was not impressed) So I started taking these tablets he suggested. Well they did not work for my BP - BUT I realized that I no longer got any hot flushes.
When we went to UK May 2014 I did not pack enough, and the last week (after about a week of not taking the tablets) the hot flushes started again. So I know these are what is stopping them FOR ME.

The first lot came from Chinese Herbalist and cost a bomb, I now get these from Amazon, and they do the job.
Fu Fang Dan Shen Pian tablets.

Love it! And indeed, everyone reacts differently to all types of medications/supplements.

I am on patches - low dose ones, pretty much do the trick but even as a youngie I always seem to run hotter than others - so hitting the M time is the pits, combined with our disgusting summer this year.
Can't wait until it is cold enough for this

And this is the baggalini bag I bought from this thread - blaming mrs.dr.ron

LOL after going thru numerous bags, that is the one I finally settled on.
I like that it has feet, the 2 front pockets look like they are big enough to hold our water bottles when out for the day.
Wide enough for my Lumix FZ200 in its ThinkTank holster carry case.
Should fit my 12"x 8" (outside measurements) HP travel laptop.
Going to get the Mocha Cheetah, as my luggage is brown, and will not look too much like a ladies bag when I want my husband to carry it.

Love the coat (I look like the Michelin Man in my Macpac) but just does not get cold enough here, nor am I outdoors enough.

MrsDrRon should be on commission.

Think - ALASKA! ;)
Avoiding the michelin look is exactly my aim - this jacket doesn't do that thank goodness.

The Amazon reviews said there were 2 dedicated water bottle holders.

Another vote for the La Pliage bags from Longchamp. I have a large one and a small one - I put my wallet, passport etc into the small one and put it inside. Once onboard I pull that out and keep it with me and put the larger bag up top.
