Sorry, totally forgot about KUL. Would this be considered one of the successful JQ international routes?Nobody has mentioned SYD-KUL for the JQ int services.

Nobody has mentioned SYD-KUL for the JQ int services. I am booked with them to KUL in November. Hoping QF dont cancel this route and also that they have light loads in *class so we can get the cheapie upgrade at check in.
To answer my own question earlier in the thread it does not appear that JQ has any successful international routes. SYD-SGN is to be replacedwith SYD-DRW-SGN, SYD-KUL to go and then attempt a SYD-OOL-NRT service on top of other cancellations.I have a feeling that Sydney - Kuala Lumpur was one of the routes cancelled today as of September 2008.

If they are failing with these simple routes how is JQ going to make Europe successful?
I don't know. I thought KUL would have been a really good transit but they appear to be dropping this route....and how are they going to get there? via BKK?

Hmmm, I have a lot of travel to KUL coming up over the next 18 months or so and was considering *Class as an option for the extra SC.I have a feeling that Sydney - Kuala Lumpur was one of the routes cancelled today as of September 2008.

Looks like it will be back to transiting through SIN.
MEL-NRT is still alive and well 3 x weekly in the schedules, though with flight numbers changed from QF179 to QF119 later this year.
JQ are in an interesting place and I am not sure that breaking down services is the way to go. MEL-DRW-SIN sucks as does the new route to SGN. I will pay for a direct service, this local branch line train thing doesn't grab me.
I'm flying JQ SYD-HNL return in Nov08 which cost $290 rtn incl all taxes and CC charges.
Let's say its 8,000km each way (16,000kms in total). Also $290 buys about 190 litres of MV petrol (@$1.52/L).
To work how much fuel I consume per Km, it's 190 / 16000 = 0.011875L per km.
My car takes up 12L / 100km so it's 0.12L per km.
So it's about 10x cheaper to fly than to drive (in this instance)! And I don't pay for the asset purchase, repairs & maintenance, insurance and I get a driver (pilot) thrown in as part of the price.
How do they make $$$$
Anyway, the flight currently shows 32 out of 38 *Class seats available outbound and 27 out of 38 inbound.
As for the rest of the plane, it shows about 70-75% available seats to choose from.

I gather you mean $2900 return and you are in Starclass:?:
Sorry I should have clarified.
I'm flying the cattle class and yes my tickets cost $290 rtn incl taxes.
I did a dummy booking to get flight loading levels.

...I think TG runs 3 flights a day MEL-BKK and it does well. JQ struggles to sell seats on this route which QF has ignored for years.
