Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

I had a sip when first opened but nothing great. An almost 2 hour decant and just fantastic. Ripe berries and well integrated tannins on the pallet with that wonderful Cab Sauv flavour.
I left a glass in the decanter for last night and it was still great

We thought the 3 litre bottle of Cullens Diana Madeline at a Perth restaurant was a little hexxy at $1335 so that did not get ordered.

Three Yarra Valley Pinots. Similar age, slightly different price range but somehow I managed to get them around $20 each through various discounts.

The only one that truly impressed was Rochford while the other two were a bit meh.

We drank the Soumah last night too, a bit more punchy than what I’m used to but still enjoyable.

Yes we thought it’s a nice drop just lacked the X factor of a good Yarra Valley PN. For $20 I’d be happy to drink it again but if I’m judging by it’s $40 RRP there are better options out there.

The Tasmanian PN was good but not great in day 1, despite being decanted for an hour. Was much better the second day.

Wasn’t sure what to expect from the Oregon Gamay. Didn’t score as well as it’s US PN cousins so I just got 1 bottle on sale to try. Boy oh boy it was so good! Cherry and raspberry galore, a very well made Gamay.
