Yep my LAX>MEL flight in late December got swapped from a380.For nearly all flights in December and January, flights MEL/LAX are zeroed out in F.
Looks like the big bird is getting pulled off that route!
If you wouldn’t use the lounge area on the A380 the experience would be pretty similar in business. It would come down to which aircraft you prefer.Yep my LAX>MEL flight in late December got swapped from a380.
Is the 789 that much worse of an experience? Flying in business class.
Well if Project Sunrise takes away a lot of the demand to go to LAX with direct flights to JFK and potentially other destinations in the US, then QF may conclude that a premium lounge similar to LHR would be sufficient.Hopefully the F lounge will stay
If that happens then the footprint per pax (is that even a term? If not I've invented it) will have to be more than the equivalent of the LHR T3 lounge. That lounge with one full A380 is an absolute zoo.Well if Project Sunrise takes away a lot of the demand to go to LAX with direct flights to JFK and potentially other destinations in the US, then QF may conclude that a premium lounge similar to LHR would be sufficient.
I doubt it. QF likely makes a lot of $ from other OW airlines using that lounge for F pax as there is no alternative except Flagship First dining for AA and BA F pax only.Well if Project Sunrise takes away a lot of the demand to go to LAX with direct flights to JFK and potentially other destinations in the US, then QF may conclude that a premium lounge similar to LHR would be sufficient.
Or is it taking longer to get the aircraft back than expected? So the inevitable question is where will it be redeployed that has higher seasonal demand (surely it doesn’t need to be out of action for maintenance for so long).
Agree re: F Lounge - huge draw card for QF Plat and above to stay loyal, and source of revenue by on selling to other airline premium pax. Unlikely they’ll delete it.
Or could it also be linked to crew/pilots and the potential lack thereof.Or is it taking longer to get the aircraft back than expected?

Oh, you mean AJ didn't plan ahead. He was told early in the piece how long it would take to get the flying side back up. Took zero notice.Delays getting new 787s delivered and delays getting the A380s back = double whammy
When has he ever planned ahead for QF? When you have all your 'yes men' around you, nothing ever happens. He's just as bad as Mark Zuckerberg with all his 'yes men'.Oh, you mean AJ didn't plan ahead. TheInsider, you are an enigma*! In some ways you are incredibly defensive of Qantas and in others you are quite critical. Interesting. When has he ever planned ahead for QF? When you have all your 'yes men' around you, nothing ever happens. He's just as bad as Mark Zuckerberg with all his 'yes men'.

Meta is still profitable. He's just as bad as Mark Zuckerberg with all his 'yes men'.
Or a combination of all mentioned reasons (Aircraft shortages, taking longer in AUH to prepare the A380s there for service, being behind in line for Boeing's delayed/deferred deliveries, plus staffing requirements).Or could it also be linked to crew/pilots and the potential lack thereof.
