This info would've been helpful for me when I booked them last year, haha! But good to know for the future.

I solved my problem by emailing them on [email protected]

They took a few days to reply, but it got sorted in the end, even got the seat I wanted! Let us know how you go!

I assume in the email, you just gave them your preferred seat numbers? (And PNR of course)

We were assigned seats at check in -but there were only 2 left. fortunately they were together but last row of J.
I did call and email Thai but both said it has to be done by Avianca. On the phone they were quite rude.

Thank to this thread I have J awards SYD - BKK in mid July. Unfortunately no return flights from mid june to late August. But got SQ awards through VA BKK-SIN-DRW. No awards to major cities.

I will try the email later today.

Actually i am not too fussed about where i sit (I am a solo traveller) but i find it comical with how complicated the seat selection process is. Anyway i will email Thai and see what they say.

Out of curiosity, did you manage to do the seat selection online this time for the SYD - BKK flight?
With regards to SQ award flights, Aeroplan usually has pretty good availability.

I am in the situation as you now I tried to add "Mr" into the info section, but the field has been greyed out. I could not add my middle name as well (But i am not worried about this)So, i can't goto seat selection etc.

So, did you all just let the check in counter agent to assign the seats ?
Did you try and select the seats by calling Thai Airways ?

Another thing is, i can't add "Mr" into my Avianca profile. So annoying.

No. I tried adding our titles whilst booking but couldn't as they combine the title and your first name. doubt that would work.

At least I will get it done in a month's time at the latest as we will be in Bangkok in late May.

As for SQ there are only 2 problems for me.
1. High cash component.
2. Coming home from BKK we always take SQ707 as don't have to get up early and get in in time to have hotel lounge access. But on the last 3 times including yesterday when I get to payment it comes up with an error has occurred refresh and try again but if it continues ring he help centre. It doesn't matter how often I refresh,use computer or phone and every CC it still happens. It has never happened with any other flight award.

Yeah, they sent a photo of the available seats left, I chose the one I wanted and they confirmed it.

Pretty simple in the end, but as we both know now, there's a way around it for future bookings!

That greyed out Title field is infuriating. The TG site needs a total revamp.
As for SQ, do you have any Krisflyer Miles or AMEX Membership points etc ?

No KF points left and not enough MR points.
But I did get to get rid of some more LM miles last night. Got 2 J awards on TG return BKK-HKG. So our stay is now 4 days BKK,4 days HKG and 4 days back in BKK.

Nice work ! I am also planning to use up most of my LM balance ASAP.
The Aeroplan program seems to have good availability of TG awards lately.
Good if you have some Aeroplan points.

Maybe wait until June/July when Aeroplan have their bonus sale! It's usually 100-125%

We just used the old fashioned method of calling Thai (the 24hr number in Thailand as the flight was ex-BKK), got through straight away. Unable to change the title to Mr but was happy to select seat. The call lasted all of 3 minutes.

We used ExpertFlyer to check seat map but the agent went through available seats anyway.

I have just joined aeroplan but will wait until a bonus points offer. Much cheaper than VA on SQ redemptions.
