Last week I flew Air Pacific in J class Brisbane-Nadi-Auckland, mostly for an extra 80 SC's and to see how their service is doing these days. So I thought I'd let you all know what I thought about it.

Brisbane-Nadi FJ920 22:40-05:15+1 B737-800 (old interior)

Boarding didn't commence until departure time but there were no further delays.

I wasn't expecting much foodwise, but a menu was handed out and there were three main course options. Everyone received their choice because the cabin was only half full 4/8 J seats.

I found the seats very comfortable to sleep in, as I am 6"5'.

On arrival, the line for transiting passengers was too long, and I waiting a good half hour as the LAX flight had just got in before us.

The Tabua Club was not as bad as I expected. There was only toast and freshly cut fruit. But the wifi had amazing speed so I forgot about the lack of food.

I also noticed there were lots of passenger getting rejected entry at the door. It would seem unless you are flying Tabua Class or are a Tabua Club member, and your name is on their list, you won't get in with even a Qantas Gold or Plat card...

Nadi-Auckland FJ411 08:45-11:50 (same aircraft)

After takeoff, a very rushed breakfast service began. It seemed as soon as you finished one thing they'd quickly replace that plate with something new.. I wasn't expecting much once I got my fruit salad; I thought that'd be it. But then came the best looking scrambled eggs, mushrooms and sausgages I've ever seen on any J class flight! And there were chocolate pancakes also. Yummmmm!

All through the flight there seemed to be lots of Y class passengers trying to use the J class toilets, and the cabin crew put up quite an argument, it got quite loud at times. There was announcement after takeoff but that didn't seem to change much.

We arrived at the gate 10 minutes early and I was at airport curb-side within 15 mintues, very impressed!

I have always had quite good food in J on Air Pacific. The cabins are old but it all ticks over quite well I have found. There is usually a curry for dinner which I like. Yes QF club members think they have entry to the Tabua Club...no they don't unless in J. Golds and Plats do. Did you notice all the old furniture in the lounge, it comes from the old Melbourne domestic Qantas Club, even the toilet doors!

Haha I thought I could see a touch of qantas colours and feel to the room :D

Tabua club does have a bit of a QF feel to it.

I agree internet fast but food is like a regional QP.

Do they?? Even when not flying on a codeshare??

It's an Air Pacific lounge so the deal is Golds and Plats have to be on an FJ/QF codeshare ticket. A WP with a Sun air ticket to Savusavu won't get entry.

Did you book your flight separately, (Brisbane-Nadi; Nadi-Auckland) or as one ticket, (Brisbane-Auckland via Nadi?)

How much was the ticket? Where did you book it?

Thanks

Maybe AFF needs a sticky on this topic? Because it gets mentioned again and again. It's far from new. But it's still, it seems, a surprise to many.

Well maybe not a sticky. But in my ten or so visits to this lounge, I've never seen so much rejection of passengers who (I assume) thought they had access.

And the lounge, before and after renovations is not even equal in standard to a Qantas domestic QP.

I realise that in this case the information is on the Qantas website (for those passengers that can understand it) but it's clearly a big miss in passenger expectation. Were they rejected in Australia as well? Probably not if they were on an FJ flight number in Y but were WP or above and had already travelled on a Qantas domestic(connecting) flight that day...

good pick up!!

how did you come about that info?

It's listed on a sign at the tabua lounge, also may be on the Qf site under Qantas club news.

Is it? I just noticed most of the furniture was blatantly ex Qantas Club looking and an FJ staff member told me where it came from.
