My Personal Assistant of 7 years will conclude his employment in March.

At this time, I will be employing a new assistant. I will be using a recruitment company, but I feel the role may appeal to someone with a keen interest in travel.

Basically I will need someone with comprehensive knowledge of booking hotels/airlines. Extensive travel will be a prerequisite to the role. It will not be a desk bound role and your ability to be available at all hours is mandatory.

There will be a lot of clerical work so MS Office proficiency will be a must.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo a probity check in Australia, New Zealand and the UK. An annual CRAA report would also be required.

This is an "entry level" position and as such the base salary will be $55k plus super. ALL expenses including travel will be reimbursed. (Laptop, Mobile, Home and Mobile internet, BP Fuel Card etc)

If you are interested, or you know someone who is, then please contact me. A position description will be available in early January.

If you introduce me to the successful applicant I will pay an "introduction fee" of $2,000AUD

In addition to this. Should the successful applicant be introduced through AFF I will donate the amount I would have had to pay my recruitment company, to a charity nominated by Admin/Mods. I expect this amount to be around $6,000-$10,000AUD.

Thanks for reading.

WOW. What an awesome opportunity

Shame I'm not really PA material (and based in FNQ) :)

That sounds like a great opportunity for an aspiring high-flyer. Sadly I only know impoverished medical students and junior docs :(
All the best on finding someone, it is always painful to replace great staff. Here's hoping the AFF community can help.

bossreggie,

A great opportunity for the right person.

I'll have to sit back and think about who might be the right person for this.

hmmm, I'm in Melbourne, and currently looking for a job....

I want to clarify a couple of points brought up in messages, posts etc.

Firstly. Even though I am based in Melbourne, Approximately 200 odd nights per year I am out of the state. Pretty much all of these, my PA will be with me. If you are OK being away from your home that much, that's a good thing.

Secondly. The $55k salary is just that. A base salary. It is an entry level role in a sense, however my current PA earned over $120K last financial year but had almost no social life!!

There is extensive travel involved and NONE of it in the back of the plane.

Whilst the role itself is not necessarily glamorous, my assistant is very important to me and is treated as such.

The appointee will ultimately be in charge of all my travel arrangements, my calendar, correspondence etc.

certainly a great opportunity for someone who has no attachments at home. I did have someone in mind but driving would be an issue I think.

A great PA is an absolute godsend - I was lucky to inherit my boss's PA(s) - I have some poor experience with others...

I actually considered this before husband said No.

Shame really. We would be quite the team.

When I was advised by bossreggie about this thread, I immediately thought...if only (it was 25 years ago). I had considered at that point to apply to QF for a FA role, but this would have trumped it.

I'll keep my ear to the ground for the right applicant.

What a great and exciting opportunity. As tempting as it is, I'm about to undergo a career change myself and don't want to get side tracked.

Very good offer, good luck to all the applicants!

I'm away from home 200 days a year now. Shame I couldn't fund my lifestyle in the other 150 days at an entry level.

Plus, of course, while I reckon I'd be a great PA maybe BR would have a different view.

Oh to be 15 years younger and without a family that needs me :)

This is a fantastic opportunity, good luck to whoever gets the gig!

Although Bossreggie -

I understand that you and your PA have one of the most abysmal op-up rates of anyone on AFF ;)

Even worse than JohnK I believe :)

if I was only 10 years younger and didn't have a family who might object to me being away for so much time...

Bossreggie can I ask what you actually do \ what industry you are in?
