Missy Higgins rants about Vegetarian options on-board

Repeat custom?

But obviously merketing/advertising think people today are so stupid and fall for all their gimmicks!

It is much easier to keep customers who have spent money with you already. Much advertising is aimed at reinforcing you have made the correct decision so you keep spending money with them. It is also combined with other programmes like QFF.

It is also clear that not all marketing/advertising is successful, so maybe people are not so stupid/gullible.

Extremely strange place.

My complaint, as a nobody, should hold as much weight as a so-called pop star.

With the rise of social media more "nobodies " are in a position to change things.
Re the Missy Higgins complaint, I am yet to see it being more effective in actually changing QF than any of the many other complaints made over the years. AFAIK, QF has only issued the usual platitudes

Yet another case where people in a forum like ours attack a poster, for daring to criticise. Really - hairy armpits - would that be an issue were she a he?. Neanderthal attitudes and epithets like that cannot be excused by the usual 'I was joking' excuse.

Poor form really.

Somewhat depressingly, I'm inclined to agree here :(

DISCLAIMER: I am not a vegetarian, I do not own any music by Missy Higgins and I don't have hairy armpits

I'm vegan, own one song by Missy Higgins and I don't have hairy armpits.

I fail to see how anything except the first point is relevant to the issue at hand, but it's an internet forum, I'm used to everything going off on a tangent, or off topic entirely.

One thing I'm always interested to read is as airline prices have come down peoples expectations have gone up.

Once upon a time it cost $600 to fly TAA one way Syd to Mel and now it can be had on QF for $100 on sale, yet people demand more for less.

Reality check, you want more pay business.

I don't know if you actually read the whole thread, but myself and others complaining about the quality of the veg*n meals actually do fly business. And we're still complaining. What does that tell you?

It tells me you need to lower your expectations and be happy !!

Airline food is generally very poor quality compared to what I feed myself on a daily basis. I Gave up eating in the sky a long time ago - even in business. That's just how things are. You're in a big metal tube flying through the air at 35,000 feet and expect something better than a lite n easy frozen meal???

Clearly Missy Higgins doesn't fly enough to understand that no airline food (excluding some airlines + first class) is not a replacement for what you should be fueling yourself with:)

Tells me I think meals in aeroplanes are they they have always been since I started flying the 1970's.

Meals on planes are super cheap to produce, keep people occupied while on board and nothing more; and people think they should be Rockpool level.

Special meals should be not different form the rest of the offerings, which it sounds like you getting the same standard as the rest of us. If your expectations where different you'd likely be happy.

There are very few airline meals I actually enjoy, they fulfil a need not a want. (Although I did enjoy the juicy steak in J on the Syd LAX run a couple of months a go)

people won't think meals are at Rockpool level unless someone tells them it is... and that person is Qantas. 'Neil perry inspired'.

to me that implies Neil has taken a direct part in choosing the menu and how it will be cooked, stored, and presented.

as for the celebrity status of missy Higgins... whatever ability she has to raise an issue I'm behind her 100 per cent. if you have the voice, use it.

My best airborne Veg meals have been an awesome Japanese dish on JQ *class and a couple of different ones on AirAsia, bizarre that the LCC's seem to so a good job of it!

No problem from me but certainly an observation: Why do we pay attention to pop stars?

But if Missy can improve things then I'm all for it!
I do not understand how a human being can idolise another human being be it pop star, soccer star, whatever.

Actually I don't want more, I remember how it was, and I'd just like it to go back to that. A seat I can fit into, with leg room so my knees aren't crushed causing me to limp for 24hrs after the flight, and food that doesn't embarrass the FAs to hand out (because that's what I've seen the last couple of times I flew Syd-Mel - they were as miserable about it as we were).

And while I'm wading in here, why does the woman's armpit hair or lack thereof make her comments about how bad the vego meals are less relevant? I don't eat fish and pork and tried ordering vego meals ONCE and decided I'd rather take my chances with the regular choices after that. It was APPALLING.

many people recognise either the skill involved, or their position as a leader in their chosen area, or the find them inspirational.

it gives people a lot of happiness when their team wins, or when their favourite singer brings out a new track (or whatever).

but now if you were talking golf! then I'd agree with you! it seems to be mostly luck rather than skill!! :p

That's the whole point of the post you have quoted - relatively speaking you are paying less today compared to the good old days, hence why things have changed and won't be going back to re good old days. FWIW, you have much more room in J and F compared to 20 years ago (there is a QF handbook PDF from 91 that shows what it used to be like).

As for the armpit hair, not relevant but what can you do if it gets mentioned...
