Given how much terrific information is found on this site, I thought it might be interesting to ask you what was the most valuable piece of information that led to your proudest/most valuable achievement in travel. It might be finding out about a mistake fare, receiving advice on a status run that led to an elite status, utilising points to fly J or F for the first time, discovering a 'secret' destination, avoiding excessive fees, free lounge access etc.

Mine would be learning about both the US Air Dividend Miles and Avianca Life Miles programs which are complicated but extremely lucrative if you know how to use them to your advantage. 12 months ago I had never heard of either airline (or program), and never flown anything but paid Y, but now thanks to the information I have found on this site I have now booked 4 all-J trips to various parts of the world (Europe, Asia and the Pacific) over the next 12 months for the same price as I would have paid for Y (and in some cases even less!).

Biggest regret was probably not jumping on the RGN deals.....

Not a biggie, but the 28 Degree credit card. I've told seasoned travellers, travel agents and tour directors about it, and none knew about it. But this forum did!

Can I update mine?................would rather it read "Finding out that Bundy Bear will not be attending tonight's MEL drinkies". :D

J/K mate – we gotta catch up soon.

There are others who share my travel passion ?obsession...very important that +1 has now met many of you and realised that I'm not the only one:shock:
Actually hotel loyalty programs and club lounges.....somthing I knew ABSOLUTELY nothing about prior!

Whilst I can't pin point the single piece of most useful information I've found out about, it's was thanks to this site that I got both my first and second introduction to F-Lounging... :D

Grabbing some RGN fares definitely is one, classic F/JASAs as well. Add in there the optimal SC runs and I went from PS to WP in one year :) It has also helped me advise the gentleman on optimal CC points earning for his business spend - the output of which is pointy end travel we otherwise couldn't afford!

Most have already been listed:
28 degrees card for a no fees forever card and for OS ATM withdrawals - fantastic.
ATO payments by CC
JASAs such as TSV-BNE-DRW and back for very few points that got me to WP for the first time.

Cheaper QC membership through an association - saved me hundreds - not that I need it these days but I did at the time.
Some great ideas for places to visit on holidays - too many to list.

Probably many more but these come to mind first.

Too many things to mention but if I had to pick just one then its the SC, point earning QF JASA.
Great thread OP :)

Overcoming my phobia of taking photos of plates of food.......for TR's ;)

ATO payments :D

1. APEC!
2. Crazy-Cheap J fares on CX ex-TPE
3. ITA Matrix and OAG software.
4. 5th freedom flights - the gift that keeps giving.
5. The discount purchase of US Airways Club Membership which gives World-wide Star alliance Lounge access when travelling in Y.

1 280K J Oneworld redemption tips
2 Best cards for Tax Payments
3 Best Seat on the plane
4 Just how willing many Affer's are to help

I have learnt that you can never stop learning from this site.
The more I browse the more I learn.
But to answer the question I would have to say "The use of Status Runs"
What I would like to learn from the site (as a newbie) is what the "coded" jargon means.
Maybe somebody should set up a quick referance guide for the dummies (like me!)
