Re: 2015 in review
I'm not usually a big fan of these sort of threads, but 2015 was, without doubt, a most interesting year of flying for me. It was the beginning of simpler and fairer and a move away from QF. (Incidentally I love QF, have truly enjoyed the benefits of P1, and am saddened that I could not make simpler and fairer work for me.
)
Twelve new airports for me: DDG, WEH, ARN, TAO, ICN, SNN, LCY, DUB, PHX, OSL, CMB and MCY.
Two new airlines: UL, and US.
I flew "Babybus" from LCY to JFK, clearing customs at SNN. Highly recommended.
JQ "J" MEL-BKK was nowhere near as bad as I thought it might be.
The world outside of QF did not prove as scary as I thought it might be with the UL A330 J cabin being a wonderful surprise.
Despite a move away from QF I was still within 5k miles of 2014's QF flights. :shock: (BA Codeshares helped.)
My numbers pale into insignificance when compared to many here so I won't post. I don't consider myself a frequent flyer and take my hat off to those regular domestic commuters and long haul Y flyers - they are the real FF's.
Perhaps my biggest take this year was beginning to understand that not all frequent flyer points are equal, and Avios are proving almost twice as valuable as QFF points.
2015 was the first year that I flew more miles in an A330 then any other aircraft. :shock:
