Thanks for posting.
Looks like there is a typo on the main page ($500 voucher earns 500 points)?
Should be "$50 voucher earns 500 points" or "$500 voucher earns 5000 pts"?

Yes, I did a double take at that.

I have never purchased vouchers before but thought I would buy one or two $500 ones. Is there anything I should be aware of Also is it better to buy 5 x$100 vouchers instead of one larger amount ?

I would buy 5 of the $100 ones although it should be the same as one big voucher, there were some teething troubles with residual value last year.

Just remember you can only redeem one voucher per booking. So you can't buy 4 x $500 and use them all for a trip to London for example.

Looks like a lot of the moaners not happy with the double status credit offer should now be happy!

So does that mean if I buy gift vouchers now I can use them to book flights for the double SC promotion?

I threw a curly one to telephone sales this morning.

Tried to book a JASA using newly purchased gift voucher (double status credits and 10 times points on the purchase)

The response was ohhhh! don't know how I can do that. After consulting with supervisor the answer came back that they couldn't find a way to pay for the fare with the voucher.

I paid with a credit card in the end. Seems as though the system can't cope with this combination.

Anyone else had experience with this?

Just read the terms and conditions and they specifically say not applicable to award seats.

I keep telling my kids to read things properly. I better not tell them I am guilty of the same

Yes, and you will avoid CC fees, so long as its not for any seat or multicity bookings.

As you found out ASAs and multicity, computer says no!

They really need to streamline the gift voucher system so it's like most other gift voucher system in the world - ie where it's just a dollar value that goes towards the cost of any payment via Qantas. There would be many benefits for both Qantas and customers .. it would allow Qantas to remove the gift voucher only booking system (one less legacy system to maintain), it would remove unnecessary complication in terms of rules and different systems to use for both Qantas and customers, and it would be easier for customers to understand and use as it would make them the same as most other voucher / gift card systems. Qantas could then even start selling "gift cards" that act the same way in stores around Australia like Woolworths, Australia Post, etc.

this looks good, but how do you extract value with this clause ? "Only one voucher can be redeemed per booking"

I was today going to pre-pay my PAYG & GST today to harvest some QFF to take advantage of the DSC offer by booking some xASA's this month, so now what to do, buy some vouchers or pre-pay the ATO...? Decisions, decisions...?

There seemed to be some mention of choose your own value option last time I looked at the QF vouchers. I'd also suggest getting lower value vouchers to avoid potential hassles. But then I expected to have to but at least 60 flights. They have improved the voucher system every year. For example customer care vouchers and credit vouchers can now be redeemed via the same portal, apparently.

I also doubt there is a separate voucher system. Maybe just a front end in the booking system.
