Tried to search the thread on this ... QF says I have to pay $40 for a name change as I put the voucher in my first name, is this correct? I am trying to book it for someone else.

I didn't realise the name was literal.

This is really strange, I bought 6 vouchers in the name of SWMBO and later I used 2 of the 6 vouchers for myself. You should access the voucher using the reference number and your first name, after selecting the flights input the name of the passenger you are booking the ticket for.

Ok thanks, will try that, but when I look for the voucher number, my own name comes up and it goes through the bkg in my name. I'll try just in my first name and report back.

Edit; no it doesn't like it. Is this a new thing?

So you can access the voucher and search for flights and at no moment in the booking process you are asked to input the passenger's name? This is odd. Is this a "residual' voucher or one you bought during the Xmas promotion?
I just booked a trip to SIN last week using a voucher in the name of Mrs Defurax and I was able to put my name in the penultimate step of the process, just before payment.

I went to bookings, redeem voucher and put in the voucher number, and if I don't put in my name it will not go any further. This was a Christmas promo voucher and 'unused'. I am I going the wrong 'route' on the QF site to book?

Yes, you first have to retrieve the voucher using YOUR name. My point is that you will be able to input the name of the passenger after you select flights. So it is not important that the voucher is currently associated with you name.
Just try a mock booking MEL-SYD and see if you can insert a new passenger name during the confirmation process, just cancel before payment.

Ok thanks for all that, panic over. I called QF about 5 mins later to cross reference the 2 bkgs to seat together. The agent said it had been bkd in my name. Geez, anyway as we were talking, she said the name change had come though as the system caught up. All ticketed and seat requested now. Thanks for your help.

Looks like I need to fight for 2 residual vouchers to be issued for a remaining $3.99, on each voucher. The word from ticketing is the value is too low. You'd think these people would read the terms and conditions instead of just making stuff up. I've sent an email but seriously tempted to ring again.

Looks like yet another example of the contempt with which QF treats some of its best customers. Try cutting $3.99 off a QF charge and see how far that gets you. Wouldn't happen.

Sorry to dig up old thread

Yesterday I used my last voucher ($500) to book SYD-WLG-SYD online
On the screen it was $414.74
And today when I received the email, it becomes $424.74
I called Qantas and talked to Carol, at first she thought that this was a card charge, but then agreed that something is not right
She has raised this with a supervisor Sharon(?) and am waiting for them to call back
Hope I get my $10 back as well as the residual :D

This raises an interesting point...booked flights with vouchers and there was a residual of about $90 on 2 of the flights...no credit vouchers issued...how do I get my money back???

Time to give them a call?
And don't forget to let us know the outcome

It might take a day or two for QF to issue the balance as a credit voucher. If the vouchers don't show up after a couple of days, give QF a call and they can sort it out.

The confirmation email and the new voucher email usually arrive one after the other ~5-10 minutes after booking.

The new voucher if created should show in Your Bookings. Otherwise call Qantas.
