I am searching for a flight from Syd-Tokyo and when searching flights I can get Syd-Bris-Tok for 40k points +$292.85 taxes in Business Class but if I search via classic rewards the same flight is 72k + 292.85 taxes, is this normal to have such a difference in price or is this a system glich? Thanks

Sounds like a glitch. Can you reproduce the glitch and book the award?

I was able to reproduce the glitch. I believe the correct price is 72K points + taxes but you are able to book for 40K points then why not give it a go? That's a great deal ;)

Interestingly, when I clicked through to the payment page, it offered me chance to pay the $292 in taxes using points (via a points + pay slider). The "all inclusive points amount" is 77,800 points + $0 in taxes. I would almost wonder if this is the new JASA, although as the flights are labelled as "Business reward" so I doubt points & SCs would be earned.

Book and potentially get a nice SC and FF bonus if it books as a JASA :D

Thanks for the information I didn't even realise the potential for SC earn. Unfortunately I'm not actually quite ready to book as still have some planning to do making sure I can get annual leave from work and so forth, otherwise I would jump on the deal now.

It is nice to see that it works in both directions. Perhaps a response to increased competition on the route? ANA and JAL are now offering better seats between SYD and NRT/HND.

There is no potential for earning. It is an award.

the slider payment option was mentioned in the outrageous award cost thread.

No kidding. Would you rather we kept it to ourselves?

one of the more entertaining threads from a while ago made the 'error/mistake/cheap' fares a riddle - i think it was AA status runs or similar. also helped deals from being pinched from here and shared on sites such as ozbargain. we all know what they say about opinions, and i was just sharing mine.

Ours have all ticketed and we merely bought at the advertised (sale?) price, so I think we're golden.

Not much time to savour SYD int J lounge either by the looks of it.
Edit: was look at the 2nd option in TrixyDosa's reply.
BNE dom conx -> SYD int to Japan.
If the first option for the first schedule and Trixy's first option, then yes my reply is not relevant.

Just booked return flights for two pax 96,000 points plus $1,005 taxes. Not a bad deal!

Thank you very much for sharing. As I always say, this what AFF is all about, help members travel more for less.
Had no plans to visit Japan again so soon (apart from a few stopovers to/from EU) but simply couldn't resist this sweet deal :D
