Fantastic, thought we might see this soon given cutoff for parcel deliveries for many merchants was yesterday, making e delivery the option for those laving it late to buy presents!

Might buy more like last year, it's good that it includes all taxes etc too!

Still only one voucher per booking though, which is a little annoying given the largest voucher is $500.

Hmm... so actually, if they credit unused value to a new voucher, it might be easier to buy a bunch of $500 vouchers, and just keep churning through the value... much easier than lots of little individual $50 vouchers.... Am I reading this correct?

Looks like they've addressed the main complaints about the vouchers from last year, which were related to people failing to understand the conditions.

The largest voucher is $4500 but you need to find people to travel with...

I lucked out - just bought one today before the email arrived - soley to save the CC fees on a booking I had to make anyway, but should get the points. Looks like it is time to buy a few more.

The only possible catch - the card payment fee. The detailed T&Cs for the "old" vouchers issued before 12/12/12 specifically states no CC fee payable on the additional amount paid to make up the difference. the T&Cs for vouchers issued from today don't exclude the charging of the CC fee.

The "About" screen for buying the vouchers advertises "Qantas does not charge a card payment fee on gift voucher purchases or redemptions" which implies status quo, but refers to the full T&C for details - and does not seem to rule out a CC fee for paying any outstanding amount.

I am hoping that the status quo prevails (no CC fee). If not, then buying larger vouchers and rolling would avoid the fees until the "last" booking uses up the final value.

For what it is worth, I purchased a voucher ($50 by 2 people) this morning, waited until it finalised (for a while, it simply said "this voucher cannot be redeemed online), and then used it to book a return flight ($99 pp each way). I was not charged any CC fee on the remaining payment amount. If I had known about the new conditions (I didn't read carefully when buying the voucher, and am not sure that the website was even updated then), I would have put more money into the voucher - looks like I have missed out on 2,000 possible points.

The largest voucher I can see is $500.

If say I need to book for two pax total fare for both is $1000 I can use one voucher for both?.

I don't think so... make sure you read the T&Cs of this offer and of Gift Vouchers in general.

Correction... "the number of people you are redeeming for needs to equal the number of people of voucher recipients"... assigned at the time of voucher purchase and it indicates you can't change this number.

I'd never looked at these before even though I've seen them referred to on here, so it took a couple of minutes reading the conditions to figure out the $4500 maximum.
Looks like a sweet deal, especially with the nil CC fees. Double dip with the 1.25 points from Amex, plus min 1000 points for each flight - what's not to like? :p
And another Christmas love letter from the red roo just popped into the inbox - next year's epiQure is complimentary.
Qantas getting into the Christmas spirit - very nice.

Largest voucher is $500 per passenger - you can put up to 9 passengers on the voucher @ $500 each = $4500.
I'm presuming you would buy 1 voucher for 2 passengers @ $500 each = $1000.
As I said I've never considered these before - can someone with experience set me straight if I'm barking up the wrong airbridge?

Traditionally, what I've done is this:
1. Buy $50 voucher
2. Redeem $50 voucher for flight - avoid booking fee

Previously, when you went to redeem the voucher, it would only show fares where the base fare value was greater than the voucher amount. E.g. if you had a $100 voucher, you may not see fares less than ~$110-$150 (depending on taxes etc.). So even if there was a $109 sale fare on, you may not have seen it when you went to redeem the voucher.

From my reading of the "new and improved" features, it appears you will now be able to purchase any fare available, and if the total fare, plus taxes etc. is less than the voucher value, it will convert the remaining value into a new voucher.

Another question/uncertainty I have in relation to this is: when the new voucher is created, does the 12 month period to redeem the new voucher reset to that new date, or stick with the original gift voucher purchase date?

So can I buy $500 for 3 pax three times to make up the nine max?
That's not how I read it, Spruce. I think it means you can have up to 9 different people on the one voucher at a value of $500 per passenger.
I think you can buy as many 3 person vouchers ($1500) as you like but still limited to $500 each person.

Keep in mind its best to avoid using these for periods where you have been lucky to get a double SC promo, as the date generated is seen as the booking date for the subsequent flights, resulting in follow up calls to QFF to sort out!
