I kid you not. Was on QF 1 (DBX to LHR) few days ago, and FA sheepishly told me they could only offer J champagne as the F one was not loaded. Politely declined, it was 3am in the morning so was only looking for a drink before bed so I was not going to get worried about it. Was just suprised though, especially considering the Syd to Dbx service was less than stellar (forgot to heat up main meal, drink accidentially spilt onto me).

There must be a problem with QF 1 and Champagne. Not enough was loaded on today's flight from SYD -DBX. Wine selection was not good in J. The only whites available were a Coldstream chardonnay or a very ordinary McGuigans Riesling. When I asked for some Champagne they had to get some from First as none left in J. The flight attendant said that there were a lot of P1 & P on the flight !!!

Folks, can we get it right, it's DXB, not DBX...

Maybe they sent the champers to DBX:D

Pretty poor form by QF. Having completed 4 x QF F flights last month - I'm not surprised. The F&B offer is a long way from First Class IMHO.

We have had this problem before... champagne running out or simply not loaded. It was happening quite often for a while.

There are easy ways to deal with the problem, particularly ex Australia... for example keeping bottles at the F lounge which could be taken on board if crew discover a short-fall. (I appreciate there may be a cost element involved by having bottles from the F lounge which may have been subject to tax or duty... but when pax are paying thousands of dollars I'm not sure that's an issue for the passenger to be worrying about.)

That sounds a pretty bad flight with more than one issue, but not good to hear others tales as well. I did think on the last J service from LAX that the wines were not as good as usual standards.

As has been said when you are paying $$$$$ for F or sometimes J - you really expect that the 'basics' of service for these level of cabins to be achieved. It might be first world problems but you are paying very first world prices for the so called privilege of flying at the pointy end. I hope Red Roo is listening and passes on this feedback - I love Qantas but standards do appear to be slipping...

I can never remember EK, CX or BA running out of Champers (or not loading the good stuff) on any flight I have taken in J or F - and that includes the Dom! And if Qantas cannot find any in DXB - then they are not looking hard enough!

In a recent conversation I had with Qantas I did say that I believe the people in Customer Care and Loyalty (and this includes Red Roo), really do care quite passionately about service and a good experience. However it is just not filtering down to the coal face - something is wrong with the overall company culture. Anyway I am talking from abysmal ignorance as most of my experience has been with Qantas, so the next few years will be spent exploring others - busy looking at Singapore Suites for when my bank balance recovers from this year's extravagances. :)

justhave to buy champers duty free then send the invoice to QF when they have to use it to serve you onboard!

So far so good but I was advised to drink fast because stock is limited today...

You're kidding, right??? How does that happen? You pay for a service that is advertised as supplying certain products and it appears that it is regularly either not available or in limited supply. How hard is it to ensure sufficient champagne is available on every flight for 14 people? How is this first class service from a first class airline from a first world country? Before anyone says that this is a first world problem, last time I looked, I was living in a first world country.

Would not be happy to find no or little champers on board when we fly next year. Maybe I should warn them that I'm coming... :p

For our recent 4 F sectors - they forgot to load decent first class wines :(
