They forgot to load the F champagne

Oh, it's just that I got the feeling from your post that you were insinuating that FASA were somehow inferior.

"Ok, so the F Flights are FASA's.
Crystal clear now :)"

No I wasn't at all. I couldn't understand why someone would continue to book QF F flights if they were getting wine that was unacceptable to them.
It didn't occur to me that they were FASA's hence my comment that it was crystal clear why you continued to book them. I've booked and flown a couple myself. Brilliant value, shame they ended etc.
If I was ever booking "Full freight F tickets" as you put it in a later post then I'd book a carrier with wine served that's acceptable to me if I didn't think QF's list was up to scratch.

I dont appreciate the insinuation that I am lying
I believe you have misinterpreted P/F's post.

I read it as more being a comment that the lack of champagne is something that is not normal; not that it does not happen.

Personally I have flown international First on Qantas a total of three times - if the champagne had not been loaded once that would have been a 33% failure.

And of course, from QF's perspective, who have, what... 10-16 flights per "day"* with F, 7 days a week, so one flight a week without Champange loaded is only a ~1% failure rate... so it all really depends on perspective.

*QF 1 x 2, QF 9 x 2, QF 2 x 2, QF 10 x 2, QF11, QF12, QF93, QF94, QF7, QF8, and a couple to Asia

To Asia? I thought it was just USA and Lhr?

Hopefully sites like AFF and threads like this one will highlight the issues and encourage QF to investigate and improve their offering!

As a near 20 year QFF, I'd like my carrier to constantly improve. Criticism is never the end ... it's the start of something better.

The OP should be congratulated for starting this thread .. QF need to hear this stuff.

Do you know how much I quibbled over trying to calculate the number of flights and thought... "oh no one will really care..." :D. Isn't there an occasional A380 to HKG or SIN...? (I don't fly INT too much, so am not as familiar with the INT schedules).
Sorry my kids reckon I am OCD about details. Also I like flying F so my ears prick up at the thought of anything extra.... I have a vague idea they might fly an A380 to Hong Kong at some times of year but don't know whether they sell F on it or not. pretty sure there is nothing to Singapore on QF metal. there used to be F to Hong Kong (I have even flown it), but they took it away to do extra flights on the other routes.

I think maybe people are getting overly touchy. The question as I remember was (paraphrased) if you don't like it why do you keep booking F. The implication I get from Princess Fiona's reply was that she understood there may well be different imperatives in play if these are FASA's, not that they were inferior (or superior for that matter), just different.

Argh, interpretations!

Since they pulled the A380 from regular service on the SYD-HKG and return on 127/128, they are using it on a seasonal basis but not selling an F product. ie F seating with J service.

Yeah but if your flight is the one without Champagne...

FWIW I'm 7-7 on Champagne loaded over the past few years. Efforting towards opportunities 8 and 9 (and possibly 10) as we speak :D.

How much champagne do people think should be loaded? Anything less than an allocation of 1 bottle per seat (ie 14 bottles) is not enough IMO.

Yeah of course, I entirely agree. I can just imagine the discussion of an internal management meeting:

Manager: "So how many flights in the last month have gone without Champagne loaded?"
Staff: "Only 6 in the last six months out of ~2,352 flights"
Manager: "Well, that's less than a quarter of a percent failure rate, so we're not doing too bad, really, are we?"

Of course, from my perspective, where I only have the opportunity to experience First class on such a rare occasion, I really hope that my flight doesn't fall into that 0.25% category.

For a lot of people, flying F might be a once in a lifetime...I would hate for my one experience to be one with no champagne.

Indeed I have only ever flown F once in my lifetime .................. well only once on QF F - and they had plenty Taittinger Comtes on board - had they not I would still be squealing like a stuck pig.

FTR - I think it is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE that any F flt does not have sufficient quality Champagne on board.

This has happened to me on SQ though - I can remember flying out of PEK one time and IFS immediately approached me and apologised profusely that no Krug was loaded - however she did go on to say 'but we have ample stocks of Dom' - SQ were forgiven immediately - but I digress.

Already booked! Later this year it will be CX CDG-HKG

Of course, we dont actually know what QF's failure rate is so a 1% failure rate is just speculation. And of course we are talking about F here, one of the things that people pay more for is a higher level of service. If I go to McDonalds to eat I expect a fair level of incompetence in the service, if I go to a 2/3 hat restaurant my expectation would be much higher and I think thats justifiable.

At that sort of price, any failures are one too many.

A 1% failure in any service business is not acceptable. (Not picking on QF but 1% failure indicates poor management procedures.)

As for the inference that I think the OP is lying, there is nowhere in any of my posts that I have inferred this and I apologize to the OP if they have perceived this from any of my posts as that's certainly far from the case.

I can't see you've got anything to apologise for Princess. It was plain English to me. Not your fault if anyone else reads something into it that was obviously not intended.
