Staying in Brisbane, cheaper to train or drive to Dreamworld?

Be aware that (at least) Thrifty are currently only operating from their airport office, due to their city office being damaged by the storm.

    SYD-HKG Premium Economy

We did this trip QF127 13/11 and QF128 18/11 booked in premium economy, refurb 747 36JK up and back. We were lucky enough to get an upgrade to J on 127, but lucked out on the way back (not surprising when it's an overnight leg). 36JK are good, and although there's no cut-out at the bottom of...

    Flight simulator

Have to agree there, I had the opportunity to use the one in Brisbane at Breakfast Creek - running on FlightSim X. Many of the switches and control systems (such as the autopilot) failed to work. I'd spent weeks at home shooting IMC approaches into Kai Tak, so much of my time was wasted...

    MMB down at the moment?

Manage my booking doesn't seem to be working at the moment - hanging at "retrieving your booking details" screen, then eventually timing out. Anyone else suffering the same problem, or has our corporate network been fiddling with the ones and zeros?

Travelling for business in the cold

I use a Macpac Sabre soft shell in charcoal grey which is light, warm, and smart enough to look good with a pair of dress pants and a business shirt - with the added benefit that it is also waterproof (to a point). It's reasonably priced when on sale. I'd post a link but don't have enough posts...

Need advice for 2 days in Ho Chi Minh City

Pickup the Lonely Planet guide, there a couple of self-guided walks around the city which visit many of the better spots, and a few that are out of the way too.

QF A380 to DFW; QF9/10 retiming

Of course not, and I wasn't expecting Red Roo to do so - you might note that my original question was around "at what stage are QF likely to contact us". Likewise, although QF8 was earmarked as a regularly poor on-time performer, arrival times into BNE have improved considerably , usually...

QF A380 to DFW; QF9/10 retiming

Dunno Smit0847, that's why I asked. Considering I booked the flight specifically because it had PE and I paid for that PE leg, it now seems a legitimate question to ask considering none of the alternatives have PE. I guess the other alternative might be a refund or compensation for the...

QF A380 to DFW; QF9/10 retiming

Hi Red Roo, We are booked 13/11 QF8 BNE - SYD, QF127 SYD - HKG and returning 18/11 QF128 HKG - SYD arriving 19/11 - at what stage are QF likely to contact us to arrange alternative flights BNE - SYD (and will we be upgraded to J on the now-domestic flight), and are you able to provide some...

Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! Hi all, Long time lurker, first time poster.... I'm approaching my QFF anniversary on 31st July, and have just received the DSC offer. I'm 60 points short of maintaining Silver, and would require 510 to make Gold; the obvious benefit is free QC...
