    Australian state border restrictions

Yep, in WA, QLD & Tassie the parochial hobos are the majority unfortunately. If only that Palmer v WA high court case went the other way

Their tourism industry received support. He is targeting 90% vax rates which is different to the 80% he (and the other premiers) agreed to in the National Plan

    Australian state border restrictions

Completely useless. Hoping the tapering of the Fed support forces a reopening.

    QF International via Darwin

Totally & a perfect gateway to channel tourists in once quarantine is scrapped.

    QF International via Darwin

Can't wait to see their (and QLD) tourism industry wither on the vine. They should make the move to DRW / SIN permanent

    Australian state border restrictions

Yep, but I notice how he specifically went out of his way not to criticize Andrews / Victoria. Just noted they were having a hard time

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Yep, so glad to be in NSW. I would easily accept 7 days home quarantine (noting its just a trial and subject to being expanded post 80% vax)

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Given Vic has 700+ cases a day it's pretty scrappy concession. Vaccinated and pre-entry test with no quarantine should be acceptable. I suspect Andrews' is still secretly chasing Covid zero

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Given the states have "some" control the public health orders on "health" quarantine, hopefully NSW drops the hotel quarantine requirement once they get to 80%

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Same! We need to virus to circulate and become endemic within Australia to make the risk of incursion irrelevant; then borders will reopen. Hoping this is the start!

    Australian state border restrictions

Without landing caps (which has to be agreed with the Feds) their quarantine capacity will be at overflow. Plus once the virus is endemic across the nation it's bound flood in through freight / airline / other essential workers.

    Australian state border restrictions

It will eventually leak in and spread either internationally or from NSW - That's the biggest stick the Federal Govt has against WA, to just open the international border. Let's see how long it takes for McGowan to abandon his zero COVID strategy.

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

It’s not the current state, it’s more the concept that the NZ report recommendeds maintaining an elimination strategy even when 80-90%+ vaccination rates. So NZ is likely to be closed off to the world well into 2024 at that rate.

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

NoCookies | The Australian I am consoling myself it could be worse, if we were living in NZ the international borders may never reopen “New Zealand should attempt to keep Covid-19 out of the country indefinitely, even after the population is largely vaccinated, the Ardern government’s expert...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

One would hope so! However, the WA public have been fawning over him its hard to see how they would turn on their beloved leader

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

It is so frustrating; especially when you hear all the daily hysteria from the zero COVID junkies. Finger's crossed; eventually more infectious variants will leak in and we will be forced to abandon our zero Covid policy

That's why I suggested the 5% surcharge would apply across all income levels

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

I don't think the two are mutually exclusive. We can have a lottery but also have a levy (like the Medicare Levy Surcharge for those without PHC) of 5% if you're unvaccinated and it can apply across all income levels and even cut into Centrelink payments. That's a nice stick to get vaccinated!
