Australian state border restrictions

Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience with how quick Victoria drop their red zone hotspot of Darwin/Katherine. Still classified as a red zone even though lockdown ended in Darwin on Thursday and Katherine yesterday.

Cheers

Yes everyone wants life to get back to near normal again and yes everyone is tired of restrictions etc, but the bulk of the population can see the light at the end of the tunnel and understand that unfortunately it will be at least 2 or 3 months yet of vaccinating to get there.
But the light at the end of the tunnel is illusory.

There are signs that Victoria is failing to contain the virus. 30 new infections out in the community for part of their infectious period is heading in the wrong direction.

The numbers may not get to the Sydney levels but it’s looking like Melbourne may be in lockdown and shut off from other states till vaccination rates increase significantly similar to Sydney:
Yes, inasmuch as "contain the virus" was never going to work.

I wonder why they didn't foresee the risks.

It's almost like that in living memory, short of a different looking license plate and drivers license, it didn't matter where you were from. Because you were Australian before anything else.
I agree! And that's why Palaszczuk needs to get the consequences of her decisions, good and hard.

I think this says it all, now that lockdowns are happening more widely sentiment is starting to change.

However, I wonder how much longer my mates from WA and I will continue to fight? Close our border, we're happy, it keeps us safe etc.

Well, look at the damage it's having to the economy.

Plus, also the train driver shortage I mentioned as well which has already resulted in decreased guidance re: output for Iron Ore etc.

I think as long as the change is before the travel date, then I'll get the travel bank credit.

Just called VA and now my booking to HTI with VA has been fully cancelled. The agent actually reminded me that I paid with points and credit card, and I chose the credit card phone option and was later transferred to the right department. The first agent answered within a minute, the transfer to the second one took about 5 minutes. I was expecting a much longer wait.

Because it was a flight change (i.e. cancellation by VA), I got the cash refund back to my Amex and the points going back to the Velocity account. My original flights were direct flights departing 31 Aug and coming back 4 Sept. The flight change had MEL-BNE (30/8) -HTI (31/8) and then HTI-BNE-MEL (3/9). Even if there were no border restrictions, I'm not entirely sure if anyone's going to accept the extra travel time with one fewer day at HTI.

Very smooth process.

Until there's an outbreak here. But given the geography of it all, could be while, so keep up the fight!

GTFU the SA CHO has blow waved her brains into space with this latest brain fart.

Seriously. And they wonder why people are flying anti-lockdown banners in the air around the country.

This is literally biblical stuff now….
