New Amex redemption rates for SQ/EK; adding transfers to QR/HA

Velocity has consistent availability for QR if you book early enough. I booked to London for Feb next year and can see availability in May 2024. This bodes well for availability via Avios. I don't know how peak season looks though, whereas SQ was always quite good for that if booked in advance...

Emirates hikes up carrier charges on reward seats

The carrier charges are terrible but I'll maintain it's still a good use of points to fly EK F. It is an experience in of itself - as opposed to just flying in comfort - and particularly if you manage to get a seat on the new 777 F (decent availability on some routes) then it can be pretty...

    Emirates A380 returns on SYD-CHC

Will be doing F both ways on this in four weeks time. Is there any chance I'll be able to use the shower or will that be limited? Aware there will be no caviar (sadly)

Qantas Salt & Pepper Squid thread

I once read someone asked for it in SYD FCL before 11am and they made it for them (off menu). Not sure if this was a one off though! Off back to SYD FCL in a month, might give it a go!

EK to increase BNE frequency from June 2023

Loads of availability on QFF for these BNE flights. Booked STN - DXB - BNE in F for 25/2/24. It was earlier than anyone can book them through EK apparently, so second flight was showing up as 26/2/23 for a couple of days. Also need to do flexible date search on the multi city if you want the...

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Don't call up. I booked mine back in late October 2022 for August - October this year. Same thing happened to me and points still haven't been taken. Ticket numbers etc all valid and have the points still in my account in case they realise they need to take them.

Does QF release any international premium cabins to partners anymore?

Recently QF released a whole bunch of J seats to DFW over winter 2023. Some are still available eg QF21 MEL - DFW on 21/7/23. They can also be booked on Asia Miles. AFAIK if it's bookable by Bronze on QFF it should be bookable by OW partners, I don't think QF restrict their availability...

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Actually I'd forgotten how cheap Singapore's carrier charges were. $99 for MEL - LHR and $480 for LHR - MEL, largely because of UK's departure tax. Given the good availability on KrisFlyer and potential for other programs on Amex I still think it's a decent shout - $5kish return business to...

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

My usual annual points strategy is 4 x Qantas CCs churned a year and Tax/super paid through Amex/Sniip. 4 x Qantas CCs got me Points Club Plus per year which is quite a handy extra. I think now it'll be 3 x Qantas CCs churned, tax/super through a low % Qantas Visa/MC platform (would clear PC+...

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Shame, having a mix of points helps massively helps too. Only program where it might still be worth it via Amex is Asia Miles as they still only charge 85k points with Cathay and 90k with other programs one way to/from Europe. With Amex Platinum this would be $1,520 in card fees - wouldn't be...

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Disaster about Sniip increasing the Amex charge. There's no other option now is there? And even with Amex Platinum @ 1.125 airline points per dollar, 2% isn't really worth the points is it?

    Krisflyer Elite Gold

I'm Krisflyer Elite Gold and flying DPS - MEL on VA economy next month. Does this mean I get access to the DPS lounge that VA use?

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Cathay availability is a game changer for those planning trips now. Very much doubt we will see the cancellations and chaos which characterised bookings over Covid either. Just as a data point for others as I know a few others have had this same stroke of luck - booked a RTW ticket back in...

    DXB-SYD/PER routes in Oct 2023

They don't necessarily always release seats, indeed often Emirates haven't released any at all of late. Or they might release some down the line. If you're trying to get back from LHR and can't find anything LHR - SYD, you could go into multi city and do LHR - CMB and CMB - SYD (Sri Lankan) or...

Flight cancellation help requested: Qantas Classic Reward seat via Qatar Airways

The problem is a lot of the time there isn't that time before departure to get this sorted. Taking three months won't suit every circumstance - it certainly didn't suit mine when Cathay cancelled three weeks before especially given the Xmas break and call centres jammed due to Omicron travel...

Flight cancellation help requested: Qantas Classic Reward seat via Qatar Airways

Yep, EU261 is about "right to choose" between the three options and the 14 day rule is about compensation *not* enforcement of this rule. That said, it can be very hard getting airlines to comply with it. Cathay cancelled my QF rewards flight in late December last year from MAN - HKG - MEL but...

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

This same thing happened to me about two months ago. They didn't debit the 318,000 points yet, so as it stands I've got a RTW ticket for 0 points and about $1500...
