    New Altitude Black has landed...

I am not sure if this conflicts with what others have been told, but I was advised that: - the minimum credit limit for the application for an Altitude Black is $15k - if you have a package with a home loan this can then be reduced to $12k, but you must have first satisfied the application at...

    New Altitude Black has landed...

Switch completed after some hassles. 1) Whilst at a branch asked about changing over, was advised to make an appointment with a personal banker, so did 2) Attended appointment (next day) with personal banker, who entered details into a webform, only info asked for was driver's licence, she...

    New Altitude Black has landed...

Haven't been offered to change my included home loan card to Altitude Black but am currently attempting to do it anyway. Hit some unspecified hurdles on the attempt and am now waiting for the card services group to call me at a time of their convenience.

US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

I did think about it, but we are on tight enough timing for leave not to make it seem worthwhile, although I know people here might question my priorities in turning down a possible F sector.

Complimentary meal on flights over 3 hours

On coast to coast I think they offer buy on board for drink and snack items only. However this seems to be more in theory than in practice at least on MEL-PER and vv. I have seen it done but less than 50% of the time

Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A I think with LifeMiles you need to see availability in the same class for every leg for it to show - so need F offered and available on every leg.

    VA's retro A330

My flights are normally in the 80-90% range full in economy, at fairly peak times of the week but not the busiest flights of the day (going by expertflyer fare availability). In business the numbers seem to have increased also from what I have seen. I can only find BITRE stats for routes...

    VA's retro A330

I flew PER-MEL on XFB yesterday and had quite an unusual experience - it was on time, the IFE worked faultlessly and some things were actually more practical than on XFC-H (the economy bulkhead tray tables are not great in the new models). Never fear though, it wasn't flawless, the seat lumbar...

Complimentary meal on flights over 3 hours

I am sitting at around 40-50 of the Virgin coast to coast economy dinners in a year, which yes is a lot of those chocolate mousses. I find them generally OK, including that pumpkin ravioli variant. The bread roll is normally pretty aweful in the round form, although there is a squareish...

    Chances of maintaining Gold

That seems a turnaround on last year where they seemed to go to great lengths to maintain status for status matchers who hadn't flown Virgin very much.

    My Virgin Gold experience

I am a VA Plat and previous Gold traveller but rarely check in luggage. Some of the times that I have, I think I might have been asked for a driver's licence. I vaguely remember it seeming to be regular practice years ago when Virgin was a newer airline. If asked, I show the card, it takes...

I'm in the VA Lounge thread

I am in what I can only describe as what's left of the Melbourne lounge for the next 45-60 mins. I eagerly await completion of the renovations. I feel a little worried though about the installation of pretty signs on the hoardings, it makes it feel like they will be there a while yet.

    Velocity VIP benefits

Now I acknowledge that this is unconfirmed and that Virgin is not obliged to provide anything more than the contracted service and published benefits but if they are going to go bumping a BIS plat on full fare business out of a pre-allocated 1A for a VVIP on a Saver Lite fare then they would...

    Rewards booking codes for VA?

I don't think ExpertFlyer shows reward class availability for VA, so you are not missing anything.

    Pre departure music selection

I have been puzzled for some time at the choice of music on VA during boarding. Why would you choose a song where the dominant line is "let's call the whole thing off"? I cannot imagine this is the most confidence inspiring choice particularly for nervous flyers or those who have been...

What's the emptiest international flight ex or to Oz you've been on?

On Christmas Day 2012 my partner and I had the entire VA 737 for ourselves flying DPS-PER. Earlier that day the other VA DPS-PER flight had just a single passenger.

New options to upgrade with Virgin Australia & Velocity Frequent Flyer

Re: UpgradeMe? (Rebranding, bidding) The copying from AirNZ seemed to miss out of one feature of OneUp that some people here were interested in:

New options to upgrade with Virgin Australia & Velocity Frequent Flyer

Reading through the material on the VA website, it looks to me like if your offer is successful you pay the offer price not the auction clearing price, so not the lowest successful offer for someone else on the same flight. If someone found something to the contrary, please let me know, as...

    ATO Payment via Credit Card

I think previous mentions of running things through merchant accounts of related parties (self, friends, etc) has seen warnings of loss of merchant account if discovered. Perhaps the refund to debit card will make it harder to detect, as I don't know what the triggers for being found would be.
