QF37 MEL - SIN apparently delayed to 5pm. Aircraft has been sitting on the ground since this morning when it arrived from Jakarta. Edit: Original aircraft had an engineering issue, so they had to wait for the PER - MEL A330 which is now our replacement aircraft, departing about 1 hour 45 mins...

So I just did the test case: - Became AUS citizen on Thursday night - Checked VEVO this morning, visa on my foreign passport still active - Just left the country in MEL using that said foreign passport - Gate opened immediately, no ABF intervention at all - Passport photos taken at Officeworks...

It can be done subsequently, and I have done it that way twice. It just never seemed to work if booked through TA.

My experience is that through TA it never works. One thing to consider maybe: Book a cheap SYD - MEL flight with offset, then cancel within less than 24 hours for free? Might be easier than trying to get this fixed?

was this trip by any chance purchased via a Travel Agent?

Thanks - I just called and the operator agreed with me that it should be manually credited. He said he has to send it to the back office, and it should be credited in 2 - 5 business days. Apparently, I will receive an email with "the response from the back office". To be continued I guess...
