I flew SYD-NRT then trains to Kyoto instead of JQ to KIX then train to Kyoto. I have flown JQ to KIX before with train Kyoto and QF to NRT option was better by a mile. Or they can bring back JAL who flew SYD-KIX-BNE-SYD, it was great.

It really depends on loads on individual flights. I am Platinum flying SYD-NRT return in the next two weeks and my flights are almost oversold in all classes so no chance of upgrade for me.

It is not if they offer another method, the point is the fee charged a true representation of the cost to Virgin to use a credit card, the RBA says they need to charge a fee that represents their costs and not gouge.

You need to take into account your marginal tax rate as you pay tax on interest but not on FF points, it still may not be worth it but needs to be take account.
