    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

QF61 BNE-HND has also had an almost 18-hour delay from 11.50 today, to 6am tomorrow morning, resulting in the return QF62 HND-BNE being postponed to tomorrow afternoon from tonight.

Arriving into MEL on QF 70 connecting to QF9 to PER

Aren't there only two international QF flights arriving into T3 though - QF10 at midday and QF72 at midnight (and for a few months, QF66 in the afternoon)? I didn't think the border control at Perth T3 is staffed outside of those times when they are not expecting international arrivals into T3.

Arriving into MEL on QF 70 connecting to QF9 to PER

I'm wondering if the reason for this kerfuffle is because border control in Perth T3 is not staffed 24/7 and only has staff rostered on for when they are expecting QF10 and QF72 to arrive. QF9 from Melbourne arrives in the evening so they may not have anyone at border control to process you...

Buying two Y seats if you're not fat

There shouldn't be an issue as you've paid for the additional seat. However, because this isn't very common, the FAs may not know how to deal with it, which happened to me on a QF flight from PEK to SYD. Because no boarding pass could be issued for the additional seat and there is merely a very...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I think they were probably planning on an additional A380 destination as they have completed refitting 6 of the 7x A380s they were planning to do but those darned wing spar checks and repairs have probably thrown a spanner in the works. The B77W freed up by the A380 HKG rotation in December...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

SQ's flights to BNE, ADL and PER have always (even during the days pre-COVID) been operated by aircraft with a regional configuration so it's probably no surprise that the regional config A359s have replaced the B772 and A333s that used to go to those ports. Flights to SYD and MEL were mostly...

    Virgin Australia Middle Seat Lottery

I don't think it would make a difference with comfort seat bookings as we are effectively paying the fare for two seats with those bookings (and in those cases, taking the comfort seat away would be equivalent to offloading a passenger). Pure speculation but it's probably more along the lines of...

SIN T2 to shut for 18 months from 1 May 2020

I do apologise - that is indeed what is officially on the website. However, going by this PSA from MileLion, it seems to indicate that in practice, *G passengers will simply be sent to the Business class SKL in T2 if they show up instead of being sent back to T3, which makes no sense whatsoever...

SIN T2 to shut for 18 months from 1 May 2020

In T2, the current arrangement is that KrisFlyer & Star Gold members have access to the SilverKris Business lounge as the KrisFlyer Lounge is apparently being refreshed and will not reopen for the moment.

    Qantas mixed cabin return flight?

Yes you can. In ExpertFlyer, you can go to the Fare Information, enter the origin and destination cities, along with dates and the carrier, and get a list of their available fares. The combination rules are usually available under the Combinations section if you click on View Rules under the...

    Qantas mixed cabin return flight?

This will be possible if the economy and business fares allow combinations on a half round-trip basis. It does appear the current fares between Sydney and Tokyo for QF do and so you'll need to call in to get someone to help you do it (or maybe go to a Travel Agent). Not relevant to this case...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Which date is that for? When I looked up the menu for tonight's flight, it still shows Supper + Snacks.

Qantas Call Centre Long Wait Times

In all honesty, I don't think it's the number of staff that is the problem as much as it is how long they are actually taking to service simple requests. Even changing a simple domestic flight often takes more than 30 minutes (and this is on a stock standard domestic itinerary with no fare...

    QF International via Darwin

Interestingly, it appears while they have updated the schedules for QF9/10 to go via DRW instead of PER (one of my friends got a ping on his Qantas app as he was booked on QF10 LHR-PER and then QF648 PER-SYD), they have left the schedules for QF1/2 as they are, going via SIN between SYD and LHR...

Business class transit through Singapore (Changi): an absolute farce

It looks like Categories 2, 3 and 4 will be replaced with a General Travel category starting next week. It's likely the information on the various websites is not quite up to date and I won't be surprised if they scrap the holding pen idea altogether once all countries are considered to be...

Qantas Call Centre Long Wait Times

Not really relevant to this post but I foresee this is going to be expected on international flights until the EA issue is resolved.

    Seat occupancy lower

I suspect the reason they're still running could be that the loads are heavy in the other direction (inbound into Sydney). They are already down to one flight on some days as the MEL flight isn't daily so I suppose it still works for them.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

As far as I know, unless both flights are on the same booking, QF will not check your bags through to the SQ flight. This was already the case pre-COVID and so I can't imagine they would do so now. If that's the case, you need to make sure you can enter Singapore (and meet all the relevant...

Virgin Australia to lease more 737s

Sorry to burst bubbles but I think that was just the wallpaper that SilkAir had on their 737-800s. Having said that though, the seats do look very sleek and modern and I hope they're as comfortable as their good looks.

Qantas Call Centre Long Wait Times

He gave up in the end and cancelled his booking online, which converted almost instantly to a flight credit and landed in his account (credit where credit is due). That could then be used straightaway to make another booking on the website. After having waited an inordinate amount of time on...
