Qantas Hotels no longer supplying Tax Invoices

You need to look at the legislation, not that ATO web site,. The bit about connected to Australia that talks about selling to Australian consumers is to do with selling things from offshore to Australians, and the Gerry Harvey whinge amendments or by direct electronic distribution platforms...

Qantas Hotels no longer supplying Tax Invoices

A hotel required to issue a Tax invoice is by definition a Resident entity. An offshore hotel may be a non-resident entity, but is not making taxable supplies (as far as GST is concerned), so that point 26 does not apply to these scenarios. That point applies to offshore companies making...

Qantas Hotels no longer supplying Tax Invoices

Correct, this is the obligation. No, Qantas does not need to do this - it is conditional - the principal's obligations are complied with IF Qantas as the agent issues the tax invoice, if not, they have to do so. My reading of that ruling is that there is in actual fact no actual lack of...

Pay Points to Extend Qantas Status

Depends on whether you agree with that valuation, of points, and how many SC short you are. For 875 even at that value, $2,61 per SC would be a pretty good status run - not to mention the time taken to do it.

Pay Points to Extend Qantas Status

Well data point on previous page was 875 short of requalification. It wouldn't be offered, but I got the impression that if you asked, and had the points, the amount of the shortfall didn't matter. Don't know one way or the other if the 4 ~ are important or not (they were achieved).

Pay Points to Extend Qantas Status

It is standard - and no difference if you are 100 or 1,000 SCs short.

    Status credit from Qatar flight

Looks like it could be a typical QF dig at those using QR. The table is the same for SYD/MEL/BNE, but the breakdown if the transit point is SIN gives the same result for either SYD to Western Europe or the sum of SYD-SIN and SIN-Western Europe. This route does have a single flight number on a...

Lounge access when transferring to ferry

Can't help re the ferry terminal, but I am afraid you are out of luck as far as Cathay lounges at HKG. All the lounges are in the Departures Airside, and you can't get to it after arrival. The old Cathay arrivals lounge was shut years ago - that used to be the option.

    Status credit from Qatar flight

That form is dumb - there is no cross reference between the From and To so you can pick any combination of cities, including ones where there are no flights (which is probably a good thing, as at least it gets you started on the missing points merry go round). There is another strange anomaly...

    Status credit from Qatar flight

I now have a theory - and will get to test it out when/if they process the claim. When I try and use the Points calculator to check points for DOH-DUS, it finds Doha fine as FROM, but when trying to put Dusseldorf into the TO city, it says no matching city. My theory is that the calculator...

    Status credit from Qatar flight

When I called, they tried to tell me it was not QF's fault, but that QR awarded the points. I could sort of understand that QR could be at fault for not providing information to QF (i.e. not sending the fact that the flight had been taken by someone with a QF FF number and details), but when QF...

    Status credit from Qatar flight

This is obviously a systemic problem with Qantas crediting QR flights. Flights BNE-DOH-DUS and return. BNE-DOH flights credited straight away (first and last segments), but nix for DOH-DUS. Online claim rejected with "AIRFARE AND BOOKING CLASS NOT ELIGIBLE TO EARN" despite the fact that it is...

Traveling to Japan and tax free purchases

According to Fender Japan website whilst tax free shopping is available, it is only for payments made in the store with your actual passport. They don't offer refunds afterwards, and don't off tax free for online. You may be able to convince them to let you "purchase" again, and refund your...

Choice of returning to Aus from Japan?

That is not going to help you with entry to Japan, and possibly not with getting onto the plane in the first place. Japanese entry requirements warn that visitors not holding return/onward tickets could be refused entry. As a practical matter, that means many airlines will want to check that...

First time on Qatar Airways - my thoughts

I am not sure it is so black and white. It probably depends on how many quad sets are available. I was able to select a double out of a quad for the two of us 10+ days out with no issues on a couple of flights (bit of a last minute booking), but there is at least one remaining quad left. 2 x...

HKG lounge crawl 9 June 2024 (the annual Asian lounge crawl)

Interesting. The Octopus website seems to indicate that only cards issued on or after 1 October 2017 are subject to becoming inactive (and being charged each year for being inactive). My cards (obtained well before that - I suspect around 2008), were used in early October 2018, and then not...

Advice on Interline QF-AA & LAX Min Connection Time

And realise that when it is unprotected, they don't actually have to find you an onward flight - or cover any accommodation or the like if there are no flights. The ability to find an onward flight when the booking was unprotected will always be much less. The airline involved may be...

Advice on Interline QF-AA & LAX Min Connection Time

There is a bit of unrealistic expectation here with respect for what is being looked for, and what it is actually paid for. That AA will protect at all for any time in these sort of circumstances is going a bit over any real obligation. Booking the trip on a single PNR would provide protection...

    Bonza Airline Discussion

There lies the issue with liability for chargebacks. The liability (when the merchant can't pay) will lie with the merchant acquirer. Typically, merchant acquirers are also issuers, so if your card is issued by the bank (or a subsidiary) of the acquirer, they have an incentive to not allow...
