    Qantas international Economy Class meals

I've heard ROR-BNE, a 6-hour day flight, is the same. Qantas must not have a caterer at TBU or ROR, I guess?

QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

Agree they probably won't do this, but the fact remains (as is evidenced by this thread) that the Hobart agents can do things that people in other call centres can't. I would rather Qantas just admits this and does something about it, rather than just pretending this isn't the case.

QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

Will keep that in mind, thanks. Unfortunately it's not that easy to "just" get Hobart. Not sure I can be bothered calling repeatedly until I get to the right person. I wish Qantas would give the option to wait longer on hold in exchange for guaranteeing that you get through to Hobart. I do...

Article: Qantas’ Frustrating Application of Married Segment Logic

The guy I spoke to (in South Africa) did see that there were flights available throughout the day, but claimed there was no availability. There was availability on an early SYD-CBR flight that would have not met the minimum connection time coming off an international flight, which he initially...

QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

I called up this morning to request YVR-SYD-CBR or YVR-SYD-BNE in J. YVR-SYD was approved but not the domestic connections. Ended up just booking YVR-SYD, which I was still happy with. 108,400 Qantas points and just over CAD300 in taxes & charges. I managed to book this in on the first call...

Article: Qantas’ Frustrating Application of Married Segment Logic

Just tried to book YVR-SYD-CBR as a Classic Reward. I could get a seat on YVR-SYD but Qantas' systems simply would not let me add on a SYD-CBR connecting flight onto the same booking with less than 24 hours in Sydney. I also tried adding a SYD-BNE connection and the same thing happened. If...

Can you bring your own food into airport lounges?

I do vaguely remember seeing that rule at the BNE lounge during the covid times when the lounge catering was really poor. Maybe they were embarrassed by the large number of people bringing in Red Rooster and other similar things.

AFF Review: Thai Airways A350-900 Business Class (BKK-MEL)

I'm not sure where you're searching for availability, but I can currently see lots of TG J availability on the MEL-BKK route, e.g. for travel in February 2025, using United miles. The seats aren't appearing on the Singapore Airlines or Air Canada websites though, for some reason. I wonder if...

Oof - those are long flights on a 737.

    Air Serbia...Belgrade to Ljubljana

I have flown Air Serbia and thought they were pretty good. If it's more convenient than the other options, I would not hesitate to book with them.

Article: Strategies for Cheap Business Class Flights to Europe

Air Astana will launch a new non-stop Almaty-Frankfurt flight next June, which will make it possible to fly from Thailand (HKT or BKK) to Frankfurt without needing to stop overnight in Kazakhstan or do an extra internal connection between ALA-NQZ. The layover outbound is still quite long but the...

Slightly better loads last weekend. 61 pax on BNE-ROR and 24 on ROR-BNE.

The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes

Very frustrating but you might just need to call Qantas to get your flight changed.

USA to Regulate Advertised Pricing to Include "junk fees" (e.g. resort fees) for Hotels

I suspect that if these "junk" fees must now be included in the upfront price, most hotels will not have any incentive to have them. Eventually, hopefully, they'll die.

    General Virgin Australia Lounge Discussion

I was in the Melbourne lounge this morning and a lot of tables had dirty plates/cups/etc. on them. Nobody cleared them in the two or so hours I was in the lounge. It was a pretty sad sight, to be honest. About half the unoccupied tables in the lounge looked like this:

Qantas reciprocal relationship with KLM/Air France (2020 onwards)

You do get all the usual J benefits. I'm not sure if they give Delft houses on the Southeast Asian fifth-freedom routes but if they do, you'd get one on a J reward ticket.

Your 2024 year of travel in review

It's time for the annual AFF "year in review" thread. (For reference, this was last year's: 2023 - Year In Review) This year, a lot of companies including Qantas have emulated Spotify with their "2024 wrapped" emails. So it's only fitting that AFF members do the same. This thread is an...

Changes to Velocity reward seat pricing from 21 January 2025

Possibly, but it strongly depends on the route. For basic Australia-Singapore redemptions, probably not.
