Qantas Passengers "dumped" at Christchurch airport after diverting from Wellington after missing curfew

Arranging buses for 100 people (and baggage) in Palmerston North in the middle of the night? That would be an interesting exercise...

    Star alliance - help

Have you tried looking at flights on the "local" websites? It seems that "residency" requirements might be a thing of the past, and I have heard reports of much better pricing that way... 🤔

    Ask The Pilot

Good point on the photo. What a shame. And yes, there are some pretty nasty agents out there... "Blood, Choking and Nerve" IIRC.. Many of which were "Persistent/Lethal" Losing a beard was really pretty trivial. (Although the putatively LSD based ones (merely Temporary/Incapacitating)...

    Ask The Pilot

Huge number of A-4 photos/stories have been appearing on FB today. That includes the first photo ive seen showing WHY the undercarriage was as high as it was... an A-4 with a Mk7 (?) Nuke. On a somewhat gentler topic..BEARDS. The only time I ever saw any restriction was in the Gulf in...

    Qantas domestic economy meals

Against the flow here...but... recently flew my first QF flight in a while.... DRW-SYD. Was actually impressed (and a bit surprised TBH) to get a hot, simple (Pork sausages/peas/mash) and reasonably edible meal. (Flew UP to DRW on VA in Business and was only offered the dreaded warm...

US and CA trip planning - ferry, float plane or chopper and trains

If I were you I would investigate the baggage situation VERY carefully for the float plane flights. Depending on fare class the allowance can be from 50lbs (which is the absolute limit for a bag) to as little as TEN lb. Dimensions of baggage can be very restrictive also depending on aircraft...

AAdvantage points for non reward flights in Australia and to Auckland?

I suspect that "non reward" flights description was an error? If so, I have certainly used AA miles for domestic flights within Australia. 10k for Economy, 20k for Business. Availability seems quite good when Ive looked/booked. My miles came mainly from the takeover of US Airways by AA in...

Memorable experiences going through airport security?

I was reminded by the "lead" story upthread! On my way to yet another series of overseas pistol competitions and I was planning to load my ammo once I got there (using a US friends loading machines...One is only allowed 5kg of ammunition in checked baggage..which is barely enough for one...

Memorable experiences going through airport security?

I travel exclusively for target shooting competitions.. everything I have with me must be just about BATHED in primer/propellant residues....yet I have never had a problem with the swab tests... <shrug> I can only assume the residues from shooting are NOT the nitrates or whatever the machines...

    F18 ejection at Amberley

Yes..I was joking about the parachute use! But thank you! Overturning did NOT occur to me.... obvious in hindsight (as most things are lol). "Terrible off roaders"...classic line that! Glad the crew were both safe...hope they didn't suffer any injuries....

Not sure who this "they" who complain "about anything" is..... ;) (Canberra resident here) Well...I'll complain about one thing. Wish it had been made clear it is a FLOATPLANE service they are proposing......Got all excited for a moment....:D Sounds like a good idea to me....there are...

    F18 ejection at Amberley

Seems a bit odd.... if it was going slow enough to "trundle" to a stop... why eject? I can only assume there was a danger of an engine explosion??? Given how the pilots I know feel about the very THOUGHT of using a parachute I can only assume they had very good reason!
