Yes, but anything further they order during the reservation (drinks etc) will be charged back to your card. In short don't go booking for people you don't trust to pay you back.

I don't think they'd "have to" provide an alternative so long as they allow OWEs flying QF Y into the F lounge, which it sounds like they are already doing. It's OWEs flying on non QF codes that are getting turned away.

No chance getting any airline to bend on MCT. If you want to take the risk, book separately and fly without protection from a misconnect. Personally I think that would be nuts, QF104 has an on-time performance of just 41% with an average 41m delay.
