10,000 bonus points per 20 transactions

I took the leap and gave MR a call...

They confirmed I am on the unlimited Scheme.

As I didn't qualify for an original offer (i.e. i was never targeted for the offers)... they decided in their wisdom to give me the second offer... 10 transactions = 5,000 points.

Not too happy really (I will take it up with them later) The CSR mentioned that I was on the middle offer, so should be happy since I wasn't targeted... However, I would prefer the 20/20 offer... since I do about 80 transactions in a month... that is 80,000 points vs 40,000....

They Poced me and took out the 60,000 points... however, I was told they will be refunded later.


As many have said.. they have got different responses from different CSR's ... so don't think I should rely on what this CSR said as being definite... But at least I didn't get told I had been capped?!?
 
Can you post what the POC reference was - POC LOW Engaged or whatever it is?

I really think that they stuffed up the promo having multiple earning streams. It is like they thought through some of the promo but not everything...
 
Was there a 20/20 offer? I thought it was only ever 20T/10K.

So there was a 20T / 10k, 10T / 5k, and 5T / 5k...

just rang Amex and spoke with the MR department and was told I am still on the uncapp offer 5k/5tx (yes i signed up 10k/20, then 5k/10, then 5k/5 all before 19 sep. Then called up on 19sep night to cancel the first two promotion).

the POC'ed points are not going to be refunded (again diff CSR says diff thing)

i wasn't targetted but the CSR was not mentioning anything about changing my current offer 5k/tx to the other not so good offer (10k/20 or 5k/10tx)
 
I signed up for all three offers... and confirmed 5/5 over the phone pre20th.

From the 16/9/08 (when I signed up) until 24/9/08 i made 46 transactions... and received 80,000 bonus points.

From 16/9/08 - 30/9/08 I made 88 transactions...

Today I was Poced...

"Group - POC Low Engaged V2" and they subtracted 60,000 Points.

The only thing I can think of is that they have decided to cap me at the 10,000 per month cap... Thus earned 80,000 - 60,000 = 20,000 over the September and October months.
I don't believe so. No one on this thread has received bonus points from 24 September, so there is no way the 20,000 points you have is your capped amount for September AND October.

There is another possibility. In between 16/09 - 24/09 you made 46 transactions. Let's say;
1. you earned ~40,000 bonus points on the 5 / 5,000 promo;
2. 20,000 points on the 10 / 5,000 promo;
3. 20,000 points on the 20 / 10,000 promo;
4. total points thus far = 80,000
5. you were POC'ed and placed on the 10 / 5,000 promo;
6. you are hence entitled to 20,000 points only;
7. 60,000 points are then deducted;
8. Post 24 September bonus points are yet to be applied.

I have 1 x Platinum charge cards with 4 supplimentary cards along with 3 x business cards and 4 x Platinum Credit Cards (used when I can't pay off the whole blance of the charge card)

Annual spend is VERY good for them so this better just be a temporary correction of points.

Can't be bothered calling, they wont' care for now and will just ramble on about the points were a mistake blah blah blah and to wait the 8-10 weeks

Yours truly. But that may be because I never actually had any bonusses post.

Given the time frame this is going on over, it can't be an automated process. Someone has been given a tedious job.

Well that was an annoying 30 minute phone call! Brick wall so far, the MR team leader reckons that he can't change it, so I am waiting for his manager to ring back which is meant to be within 24 hours..

According to him, the marketing department says they can change the T&C to suit and there is no problem with that.

So they will call on a Saturday LOL LOL Good luck with that call :rolleyes:

No, I think like another has already observed it just means that the POCing is a manual process rather than an automatic one.

I would assume that part of the reason for this is that the POCer also reviews the spend looking for any suspected "abuse" such as bill splitting.

If you have only multi-registered they just POC you and deduct points.

If any suspected "abuse" is identified I assume that you will get a "please explain" contact as per the latest T&C.

I did sign up for two promos though by accident.

My friends AMEX account who was signed up for just the 5/5 promo lost points about a week ago with no explanation!! Around 25,000 from memory!

Yep Plat Charge are on the hit list the past few days.

Again I guess we all need to wait until the 12th of November onwards, which is the 8 week mark from the 17th of September when this promo started.

I expect 10,000 points a day basically to make up for all my transctions.

Heck this week I have put around 100 transctions on the card
 
Today I phoned Membership Rewards. During 2 previous contacts I had been told I was capped at 10K per month so I had nothing to lose. I said the FAQs on the website had changed and so I wanted to know if my account was now uncapped. I was told yes, they had since decided pre 20th Sept registrations would not have the cap, as stated in the FAQs.

He did stress that points could now take 8-10 weeks from the end of the month to post. I said, so not 8-10 weeks from transaction dates? He said October points could take 8-10 weeks from 31st October.

Sounds like the first part is correct

As for 8-10 weeks from the end of the month, again more rubbish from reps.

So much for all this premium customer service.

I'd rather walk into the Commonwealth bank than deal with these morons at Amex lately

Did you work out what promo you are on? I'd still call, the more people that call, the more pressure we can apply. I'm not giving up. I've said i want the points back, and put on the 5/5 promo. There is nothing in the T&C that says you can't sign up for multiple promotions. the CSR kept referring to 14.4 in the T&C but that say nothing about it.

Also if you call go straight to the MR as they have a team set up fielding the calls oops, complaints. I went straight to a Team leader.

he did agree with me, but said the marketing department said they couldn't change it. I asked for their number but he wouldn't give it to me. So if anyone has a direct number - lets start calling them!

I first registered for the 20/10 promo and then the 5/5, I rang up and was confirmed to the on the 5/5

The points were getting applied in 5k batches so I would assume I was on the 5/5 promo. I have print outs of this as well!

No point in calling, it will just be painful! I was promised a call back today about another stuff up on my account, and guess what... No-one called back! I even had this persons extension number too as she welcomed me to call her back before today if I wanted to clarify anythign else. The problems hasn't been fixed nor did I receive the call back.

I will save this up along with their other stuff ups to me this year, and hit them with it late November if I am not on the 5/5 promo. I spent well over 500k a year on my various Amex cards, so if they want to stuff me around happy to jump ship if needed.

What annoys me is "For the majority of Cardmembers all bonus points that have been credited to your account, you are entitled to keep."
 
I didnt get a postcard, however signed up for the original 20t/10k. then signed up for the 10t/5k, then the 5t/5k.
We appear to be in the same situation.

Then they stopped until the 7th when i got a "Group - POC Low engaged V2" appear on my statement and then they took away 15,000 points for some reason...
OK. This is same for me but Amex only removed 5,000 MR points of the 10,000 MR points I had earned to that stage.

To me this would suggest that we are indeed signed up for the 5t/5,000 MR points promotion. Capped/uncapped I have no idea. I am tempted not to call and just wait to see what will happen.

Is anyone else a little dissapointed that Luisa has not liaised with us further in this thread via admin?
