the only guys that have replied fully with poc'ing have signed to multiple awards.
many have reported no poc'ing on single award
I think it's pretty clear atm.

I originally signed up on the 10/20 but then had that cancelled and the 5/5 activated instead. I did confirm the first one had been cancelled, so not sure if I really fall into that boat or not...

True, but what annoys me is that it said no where at the time that you couldn't. So Amex should lump it and leave the points and put you onto one promo. I'm going to call them shortly about it as i think i have worked out what they have done.

I am fairly confident in what they have done to me - they took all the points in my account as I had moved my points to SPG. I dont know what that means in the long run.

I was the one that got the screen shot of the main splash page showing that the 5/5 was open to all and I registered for that and have those T&Cs.

I was fairly relaxed about this but have moved into the "quite annoyed" bracket at the moment. Amex have taken x,xx_ points off me with no communication. My expectation is that if they have me on the low value schemes then I expect another xx,xx_ points to be removed progressively as I build up points.

If that is the eventual outcome that I am uncapped on low value programs then I will take it up with the ACCC (or other relevant bodies) and ask for all three promos to be credited as I have evidence that I signed up for all three, was allowed to join all three and only after I had signed up did they decide that I couldnt join all three.

I am happy to get uncapped points on 5/5 but not 20/10.

Currently at about 30 transactions for October so far - that should be 30K of points and not 0 or 10K of points.

I think Amex are doing well in honoring the pre20 Sep commitments but astonishingly badly at communicating with Plat Charge card holders who pay an annual fee of $900 and have had points deducted with no explanation.

I'm a Plat card holder too, and up until last i was happy to wait it out. No i tihnk i will have to call them and see what they have done. As far as i am concerned the following should have happened:

Leave the points that have accrued to date as there is no mention anywhere you couldn't join multiple promotions concurrently. In fact they posted points based on all three.

If they are restricting you to one promotion, let us decide. Anyway i'm going to go out and call them shortly about it.

Please let us know how you fare.

Well that was an annoying 30 minute phone call! Brick wall so far, the MR team leader reckons that he can't change it, so I am waiting for his manager to ring back which is meant to be within 24 hours..

According to him, the marketing department says they can change the T&C to suit and there is no problem with that.

So which promo do they have you registered for?

My work associates have encountered exactly the same thing, regardless of them being sent a card and registering prior to the 20th.

Customer care at its best... pfffffffffft

I'm not sure what the best course of action is. But from what he said apparently the marketing department think they are covered against legal action.

They are also happily hiding behind the CSR's as i asked for the marketing number so we could complain directly to them.

So I wonder what criteria they used to determine which promo to leave you on??

The one you were originally targeted for. which doesn't help if you didn't get a card. And as i pointed out to him numerous times the 5 for 5 offer was on the website.

I signed up for all three offers... and confirmed 5/5 over the phone pre20th.

From the 16/9/08 (when I signed up) until 24/9/08 i made 46 transactions... and received 80,000 bonus points.

From 16/9/08 - 30/9/08 I made 88 transactions...

Today I was Poced...

"Group - POC Low Engaged V2" and they subtracted 60,000 Points.

The only thing I can think of is that they have decided to cap me at the 10,000 per month cap... Thus earned 80,000 - 60,000 = 20,000 over the September and October months.

Not happy at all..

Not sure if I should call though.

Unbelievable... (And to boot i put through $90,000 during the month as well - AMEX really know how to look after their cardmembers...)

Did you suggest cancelling the card?

Not yet.. I'll wait until I hear back from the manager then assess it. i generate a lot of $$$ on my cards per annum so we will see.

All i asked fro was to be put on the 5 for 5 offer as it was the last one i enrolled on and prior to the 20th and to re-instate the points as it wasn't my fault their system was wrong. They should honour the original points posted.

I think their "POC'ing" doesn't work properly as it takes off weird amounts that don't add up.

Group - POC Low engaged V2.... strikes again

Today my account has had 5000 points removed and the above comment entered.
I received these 5000 points a couple of days ( pre 20th) after registering on line for two rewards programs.

I will wait and see , but I'm quite disincentivised atm by the whole bloody mess amex has made.

We accepted an invitation to keep a card after seeking to cancel a very long standing corporate card.
All the card means to us is whatever points it acquires, but there is a considerable nuisance value in the whole process
What with the increasing uselessness of the points I'm thinking we may just as happy to use our fee free visa and dump amex.

Aside from contacting the ACCC via the online complaint form or calling them on 1300 302 502

You could also go straight to one of the people who re-confirmed this offer [email protected]

I remember you saying they were capped at 10K per month, has anything changed?

Today I phoned Membership Rewards. During 2 previous contacts I had been told I was capped at 10K per month so I had nothing to lose. I said the FAQs on the website had changed and so I wanted to know if my account was now uncapped. I was told yes, they had since decided pre 20th Sept registrations would not have the cap, as stated in the FAQs.

He did stress that points could now take 8-10 weeks from the end of the month to post. I said, so not 8-10 weeks from transaction dates? He said October points could take 8-10 weeks from 31st October.

Nothing has changed, although I believe several different stories have been spun from American Express, so unlimited one day (as per previous and current T&C), capped the next.
