I have a Qantas Premium card and also just signed up for the 5000 points for 5 transactions.

I was advised it was one offer or the other not both.

The requirement was a minimum 5 transactions per day to qualify for the bonus.

Did you get this requirement too KateMayo?

Normally I bring my lunch.. For some reason I have bought it lately;)

Yes, I'm the same. Suddenly I feel the need to buy a lot of coffee when I'm walking around town.

Actually, on that, there's still a lot of resistance by merchants to purchases less than $10 on credit cards - many cafes have outright refused. I've just walked out of them telling them I would have bought (and would buy daily), but I won't because of the minimum transaction threshold.

Any idea how soon after the end of a day and the transactions appear in your Membership Rewards account online after they are posted in your statement listing online? I looked on the 18th and found transactions in my MR online statement and my account statement which I had done the evening before on the 17th, and they appeared in both. However, transactions appearing on the 18th in my account statement have not appeared in the Membership Rewards online statement, leading me to wonder if anything is wrong.

Or is there a lag with the MR online statement?

No minimum transactions per day were mentioned to me but hey! 5 per day?? No problem. I'll be aiming for more than that. I did 4 this morning without even trying.

I just tried to sign up online for MYREWARDS and got a screen message back saying that the promotion had ended :!: Perhaps they have had such demand they have closed it for new registrants :?:

Just keep in mind it's MYREWARD, not MYREWARDS (one letter makes all the difference. :D

Ah haa.... of course! Need to be more careful. I have just registered by Qantas Ultimate Card to MYREWARD over the phone without any problem, so the promotion is obviously still going. Sorry to have spooked anyone

It seems that they are struggling with the interest this promotion has generated. I called up just now and asked for all but MYREWARDS to be removed, and Rana (the Amex MR CSO) told me that he would "submit it to [his] backoffice to get the others removed". Without me asking, he then launched into a spiel that it's 5000 points per five transactions every calendar month, no points capping on this promotion, and no minimum transaction value.

I am not surprised that they ended it so soon. It may be terminated early, and that's okay - it will have been a good run whilst it lasted.

I'm amused that only two days after signing up to this promotion, I'm talking about it like this - I think that Amex doesn't know quite how to deal with this promotion now, and the inconsistencies that people are getting from MR CSOs are possibly a sign that internally Amex want to lock it down, but it might be a case that the horse has already bolted for many customers!

Anybody who has taken the time to assess the offer can see that there are easy ways to change ones' usual spending habits to multiply the effects of the bonus offer. There are also people who will try to take it to the nth degree and may or may not benefits from all the extra work (and who may also spend more than they ordinarily would - but assessing the costs to benefit is everybody's personal decision).

Now just how many "extra" transactions they are receiving (no doubt a lot from the 50+ members who have discussed here) has been exponential - we are but a small sample of the number of cardholders out there. Most people probably won't go out of their way to spend more with AMex and be happy to receive whatever bonus points they get.

I refreshed the page multiple times - can't seem to get the tab on the page like you did.

Is there a cap on the point earning? I just registered my Qantas Ultimate AMEX - no mention of a limit but i'll call them up again.

Did you use the same url that I did?

Try this one -> American Express

I called a few minutes ago and had MYREWARD applied to my qantas amex (the free one they were giving away a few months ago).

The girl who actioned it for me also gave me the clarification speech (5k per 5 transactions per calendar month, uncapped)

I think we are creating a record for post density and rate (i.e. # posts per unit time).

I got the MYREWARD postcard. Still thinking of how to stretch the card to get as many transactions as required. I'm thinking (although ego isn't important) about how peeved someone at Coles might be if I get a $3 item and put it on the card.

Just quickly (probably wrong place to ask - sorry if so), but what are the best ways to use AMEX rewards points? Straight to QFF? Or route the points through another program?

I'm a member of QFF, DJ Velocity, MH Enrich, PC (no status) and HH (Blue, but on racing). I could easily sign up for other things, I guess (e.g. *A member program).

I've got an Engineers Australia Gold Card with Ascent (no annual fee); 1 : 1 ($ : AMEX) point earn ratio.

Sorry to take awhile to reply to this (out shopping with the AMEX!). No, AussieMark, no minimum transactions per day qualification quoted to me.

Just called up (again) and this time was successful in changing over to the MYREWARD bonus. The guy I talked to reiterated the same T&C, 5000 points per 5 transactions in one calendar month, no limit to the number of bonus points, valid until the end of December. :D

Steve

I wouldnt worry about the staff at coles - I would be more concerned about the irate customers behind you in the queue ;)

Yes, as said yesterday (and others now confirmed): Qantas AMEX works! Just called AGAIN, as card had problems wit a 4.95$ Meal Deal at Hungry Jacks. Got the Meal for free (but no precious transaction). Called AMEX and they confirmed: 5k for 5.
And it's no problem to send only 3$ on Coles....
