Posting the exact number of points "POCed" would make it simple for an AMEX staffer to precisely identify the member posting.

Ok thanks. Still seems a like a little overkill to me as the vast majority of people aren't discussing anything dodgy, they're simply talking about their experiences and thoughts. Cheers anyhow

Given some posts by some people, I would say the Amex, if they so choose, work out who several people on here are. Whether or not they do try and link them up is another matter though.

I haven't received any points in ages and I've only signed up 5/5 pre Sept20! I haven't exactly been the greatest user of Amex and only have made 47 transactions for October.

(I'll hang in there for 6-8 weeks for the points to turn up) but given the farcical nature of this Amex promo and letting all this hoo-har linger in the air - Amex is doing the dirty by hoping it all implodes within the card users.

No matter how many points I would receive from this promo - I'd guess in the range of 2xx,xx_ (assuming I'm still receive 5/5) - the fact that I have to whinge, whine, carry on & wait like a school kid as if I'm in afternoon detention leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Amex should just cop it on the chin! Handover the xx_,xx_,xx_ points legitimately earned as per the original promo - release the points immediately as the original promo - and not release dribs and drabs here and there.

You know we all hear about corporate responsibility - now here is a time to show it Amex ;)

Amex has written 'as a result of the recent unusual behaviour ...those points have been suspended and any redemption transactions have been cancelled. We have further suspended you from further participation ... (Send invoices ) and we may be willing to reinstate those points. Please allow 30 days".

What 'recent unusual behaviour"? Nearly $200 at Aust Post for international mail, and the like, as well as a bottle of wine, $75 dinner, Tatts tickets and $7 socks are all legitimate.

30 days? I need the bonuses sooner to qualify for the Velocity 25% bonuses.

I want my entries in the lottery they deprived me of by stopping transfers in September.

I'm tempted to go thru VCAT: The onus is on Amex to justify their breaches. I think VCAT's jurisdictional limit is $25,000.

Have they written to you and said this?? What a bunch of sh*ts! Do you know what might have prompted them to think it was "unusual"? It might help others avoid the same problem

I received 10,000 MR points in September and I was POCed 5,000 MR points shortly after. Sound familiar? I wonder if Amex can precisely identify who I am with that information. If they can good luck to them....

I wonder how many John K..... members meet that example? Unless of course your Amex account is not in the name John K.....

Has Anyone else received a similar letter from Amex yet??? I hope I dont get one in the letter box when I go home today.

More to the point one member was POCed a number not an integer multiple of 1,000 and originally posted the exact count. This was due to most of their Bonii MRs being transferred out beforehand.

e.g. "... was POCed 12,987 MR points ..." - how many members were POCed exactly 12,987 leaving them with a zero balance?

I'll have to check my PO Box on the way home, but I've not seen anything like this in mine. If they do send me this, I'll send them all my receipts in an envelope and they can pay for the excess weight of the receipts. I've kept every one in case they decide to do this. The fact I have kept my receipts for everything should be evidence enough, although it's showing AMEX are just being childish about the promotion, unless the OP (letter receiver not of this thread) has been bill splitting, it's going to be hard for AMEX to prove that it's not 'everyday spend'. Here comes another minefield for this thread to postulate about.

I don't know how many Amex members meet the criteria I posted so Amex could possibly identify me if they so choose. But clearly Amex knows who I am, placed me on a specific promotion and POCed me 5,000 MR points.

Posting these details on AFF should not affect my participation in the promotion and I have nothing to worry about as I have not abused the promotion in any way....

Got another 5k bonus credited today. Have not had one single point deducted as of yet.

Reading all the comments I honestly have no idea how the points are being credited or calculated, nor can I remember (or have the effort to back-calculate) the number of points I'm "entitled" to. I'm just watching my balance every day and taking it as it comes.

Yes, that's a very apathetic point of view, but there's a lot more to be concerned about in my world than just CC points. When the time comes around when the promo is over, then maybe I'll get off my a** and start thinking about how much I should have got.

aamex no longer read this thread.
the last 2000 posts have been repeats of the 1st 500 posts.

only about 10 posts with any new content exist there.

Good on you anat0l.... That makes 10K points for you so far. If you dont get any more points for next 10T then I would worry a lot .

What will happen to Cardmembers who haven’t acted in the spirit of the offer?
We will be automatically reviewing all spend activity related to the offer to identify cases of suspected misuse. Cardmembers who are found to have acted inappropriately risk forfeiting any points earned and not being permitted to participate in the remainder of this promotion.

In these cases, American Express will notify Cardmembers. Cardmembers will also be advised that should you be able to substantiate the transactions, in the form of invoices showing the amounts owed to verify the levels of payments made we may reconsider whether in fact they are legitimate everyday transactions.

The emphasis there seems to be on validating that it is a single transaction (ie not bill splitting) rather than what the spend was actually on.

So I guess the question to Vet is whether there was any spend that may look like bill splitting, even if if it was not...????

ie multiple payments to utilities (this could mean too paying a bit every day rather than alot on one day)...or multiple tx at one store on one day etc.

If I were Vet I would ask Amex which tx it is suspicious about.

And let us know please! I actually paid 4 or 5 telstra bills in one day after suddenly realising I was 4-5 months behind in my home line. I wouldn't be surprised if they suspect these are split bills. I have evidence to prove they are not, but who knows with AMEX. Any info you get Vet, please pass on :)

Have any of the people who received points and been POCed previously transferred any of their extra points out into other programs?
No - No points POC'd for me... and I received 5,000 points on the 19th of Sept before they started stopping the distribution of points.

So I would assume that I have received my points for my first 10 transactions since signing up... but I could be wrong... :)

Oh dear.. I have also returned home to find such a letter awaiting me. Very disappointing. While I have a lot of transactions, I have no hesitation in being able to justify them (thought there are a lot and it will be a bit painful - simply due to the volume involved). But the most disappointing this is probably that the suspension from "further participation" is presumably effective anyway, even if the points so far do eventually get credited.

That is rather a shame, although perhaps not entirely unexpected given the generosity of the offer.

FWIW, there is no indication of which particular transactions may have attracted attention (my guess is perhaps it is just because we spend a lot at present and have done as AMEX asked and started putting almost 100% of this on AMEX instead of a mix of AMEX, other cards and cash).

Given that Vet had previously said that he had made multiple payments on a bill back when the promo first started, and posted as such earlier in this thread, I wish him luck!
