10,000 bonus points per 20 transactions

Why? I love it when paranoia sets in then you start to get really good conspiracy theories....

I've been using Amex Online services long enough to know that information vanishes from time to time, resurfacing later in the day. Sundays are particularly common for this behaviour.

Indeed if you read back through this thread you will see where it has happened before.

My suspicion is that during the week they just update info, and at the end of the week they do a full refresh

I also had issues trying to access my MR account this morning, but at least it was giving me some error message. It was allowing me to get to the page where I could see my MR balance, so I knew they'd updated that (and I presumed were updating the transactions).

Just tried again and now the transactions are updated - but still there are a lot missing (currently have 18 showing, up to and including 7th - so missing at least 7).

Initially I was intrigued as they would have received my letter by now - coincidence perhaps ;) But given other people's experiences I was not concerned.

Second lot of bonus for Nov posted. So I now should be capped according to our infamous expert on this matter ;)

None of yesterday's transactions have posted (or today's - sheesh maternity shopping is good for the Amex transactions...) so will be up to 30 transactions for Nov by tomorrow and will advise if I get a chance.

Not many transactions for the next two weeks as I am in India and then HKG.

I had the same problem. I've just returned from Japan to find that MrsP hasn't been pulling her weight and I've got a bit of catching up to do if the November transaction tally is to equal Oct.

.

IME after the Saturday morning update, nothing much updates again till Monday morning, so Saturdaystransactions typically appear Monday morning.

With a large(ish) family to feed, and regular short-notice visitors for dinner, we never get away with a single weekly shop. For years we have had multiple supermarket visits each week, sometime well in excess of 7 visits between Mrs NM and I.

The difference in our shopping pattern since joining this promotion is that we now use the Amex card for all supermarket visits. In the past we would use the Amex for anything over about $30 and cash for less than that amount. We would also use some other brand supermarkets in the mix of shopping who do not accept Amex and so would use Visa.

Similarly, I used to get discounted Coles and Wish (Woolworths) Gift Cards and used them to buy petrol, groceries, alcohol, etc. The Coles/Wish cards were not purchased with my Amex - only Visa/Mastercard were accepted. So now I am purchasing directly on Amex rather than via the cards - if you looked only at my Amex you would think I'm doing a LOT of new shopping with my Amex, but in reality I'm only changing from the store cards to my Amex for payment.

I am not sure why some seem to think that increased tx on Amex is in any way wrong...

This whole promo is clearly an inducement by Amex to increase the number of tx on Amex Cards.

I mean why would Amex offer a generous promo to just keep doing what you had already been doing? Answer is they would not. This promo was to generate more tx and I have been happy to oblige.

And it is also not just Amex vs VISA/MC/cash...

But Amex cards supplied by Amex as opposed via the Banks.

Without the Everday Promo I would be using my shiny new Earth Amex card with its 3to 4 points per $ earn more than it is being used.

Which is why of course why I wrote it as a "guess" rather than as a "fact".

However my "guess" is based on various facts some of which I have not posted and some of which were clearly stated by Amex in the FAQ or revised T&C....and yes I still very much doubt that Amex would query someone with say 2 or 3 Safeways tx in a single day.....but would strongly suspect that they would query someone with say a dozen on-line tx to a single company of the one day.

Furthermore if Amex did query say 2 or 3 Safeways purchases then as long as they are from different times, or departments then they would be legitmate spend and not able to be "knocked" back by Amex.

Amex cannot invoke arbitrary rules....unless they further amend the T&C. Just as we the cardmembers have to abide by the T&C, then so do Amex.

ie I can buy bread for the kids Sandwiches in the morning...and then meat for dinner on the way home. Both are clearly valid seperate tx.

However just to be doubly sure I must admit that if I do for example vist a Safeways twice in one day that I normally visit two different Safeways just to make sure that Amex cannot say that they should have been one tx!!!!!!

You have got to be joking with all this!!
this thread is becoming to silly for words,RELAX!!

Thanks again for taking so much of what you must regard as very precious time to have written such another well worded and researched constructive post full of illumination for one and all.

Well, I just had a big transaction weekend (enough for any of the possible promotions to kick in), so tomorrow will be interesting to see if any bonuses post for me.

I received a 3rd batch of 5,000 points yesterday (so far this month). My account now appears to be getting the bonuses on a regular basis. I'm curious as to why only a few others have reported similarities...

I am in the same situation. Points stop from late september, but just started again. I have 20K credited to my account in november

Sorry I have only 15,000 points credited, but 20 transcations for the month so far. Probably the other 5000 points will show on monday. Last lot received was on friday as well

Drats. We'll miss the deadline for the next edition of the Guinness Book of Records.

I previously received points, up until when Amex stopped crediting them late Sept, but haven't seen any other 5/5T bonus points since then. Are others in the same boat? It's just I see a fair few people now talking about receiving bonus points again
