But are the bonus points from Nov transactions, or from Sept transactions?
95% Certain November - both from posts here and what I see online.

It's 10T/5K and the Bonus points posted against the last transaction on the date that the 10th posted. I'll know more after another 7 transactions ... :D

I had been Poced. Lost points...

Received letter moving me to 10t/5k... Not happy, but regardless...

I have made 30+ transactions this month...

Haven't received any Bonus Points yet.

Who really knows what they are doing??
Answer: Nobody, not even themselves (AMEX)!!!

We are in the same situation. Who knows what will happen?

Is there anyone who has received bonus points so far in November but did not receive the postcard and/or was POCed? The plot thickens....

I may have to go against the grain here in that I believe the bonus points that are posting this month are for September transactions or, more accurately, for transactions made six weeks ago. I am getting 5,000 points which post every other day, and that falls in line with the number of transactions I was making in September. Conversely, I have done well over the amount of bonus points I otherwise would have earnt if they were posting for November transactions... One would have to consider that it's a little more logical to pick things up where they left off.

I should be able to tell in a day or two one way or the other on this, but if it is six weeks ago, then no. But seven weeks and I will be able to tell.

Not for me; in September, I received 2 x 5K bonus points before Amex pulled the pin.

I have not been 'POC'd ... but did receive a 10T/5K letter for the MR account.

I agree with you wiz. My husbands account shows 5K bonus points credited, but it makes no sense for November. The bonus comes in after 12 November transactions. There is no "5 transaction block" or date correlation. He is on the 5/5K so I would have expected it to show just after the 5th transaction. This is the way it was done when the initial transactions posted in September (pre stoppage) and that was easy to follow.

I've counted the 6 weeks and a parcel of 5 September transactions looks correct. It makes sense to me for them to check batches for any suspect activity then mark them as OK to allocate after 6/8/10 weeks.

If the 6 week pattern continues we should see another 5K in a few days. If it does we'll be happy, 5/5K, no POC, no cap, no please explain.

If it was a six week time frame, I would have some, but I have not.

If it was for November, I would have had some, but I have not.

The plot thickens.....

Yes - me.

No postcard, joined all three, poc'd for 9K points, received 45k bonuses, got letter 10T/5K, disputed 10T/5K, received three bonuses in Nov.

I've signed up prior Sept 20 on all three promos. Received letter for 10T/5K but have never been credited with any bonus points for either Sep, Oct or Nov even though I've made at least 10T every month.

Rang AMEX yesterday to inquire about those points, but they won't do any investigation until after 8 weeks from end of Sept.

How come some people get them credited straight away and I am still waiting for my September points?

I have a theory

Looks like the first step was to sort out the multiple registrations and the POCs. All done now.

Lately a few people have reported the disputed transactions letter. Maybe the next step is checking accounts flagged as multiple transactions at one store. We often have 2 or 3 transactions at Woollies in one day. We could be in the early group because of this. Flagged, checked and accepted as legit transactions.

SIX WEEK RULE....???

  • I must admit it makes sense that when points resume posting, that they do so with a lag as it allows Amex to minimise any problems from bill splitting etc, whereas posting immediately after each 5/10/20 tx would allow some to bill split if they were so tempted.
  • Indeed I would be surprsied now if Amex did not have some lag as it has acknowledged that in it's eyes that some inappropriate tx was occurring.
  • So in my case if a Six Week Lag Rule did apply:
    • I originally was in all 3 bonuses
    • Was poced with points taken back to zero (but less than total points awarded)
    • Received points for all 3 (which is effectively double as I am on the 5k/5 rate confirmed by postcard and later letter from Amex)
    • By my calculations I would by early October have earnt enough extra tx to offset my being awarded points from the two bonuses that Amex has taken me off and so if a Six Week Lag Rule is being applied, then I would anticipate that for me bonus points would recommence posting again from about mid-November . So I should know in a week or so if this is so.

It may be that they are checking accounts one at a time...and that some or many of us are still awaiting being "checked". The original pocing being just to correct multiple registrations, but with out any veting of tx for "legitimate" tx.

As people are checked:
  • If any suspicious to Amex spend...they send you a letter..
  • If ok to Amex they resume points posting (whether that is with a lag...or immediate we are all wondering about).

Question; Were invited people excluded if they tried to join only 72 hours after the postcards were received on 16th-18th Sept? I don't see a term saying 'offer closes in x hours'. Is there such a 'offer closes in y days' term on the postcard? Does the postcard refer to 'see membership terms that might, subject to being declared void under unfair trading laws, say we can stop the promo at any time, cut you out, or change our mind'? How much would it cost Amex if excluded people were improperly excluded from the 5k/5t deal and put on something less favourable? And where on amex can one buy a Pandora's box and some popcorn?

The original offer and T&C said this promo was subject the T&C of MR Program....and that as detailed very early in this thread gives Amex the right vary things.

Or, more accurately, the terms and conditions claim a right to change things. If you feel wronged, I suggest you formally complain. One thing we have established over the last few thousand posts is that none of us forumites are sufficiently expert in law to be close to 100% certain about anything.

Free v Jetstar before VCAT's Alan Vassie involved industry wide 'standard' terms, and I thought those clauses were declared unfair and void prompting Jetstar to boldly highlight 'names changes are not permitted' on the very prominent part of the website (instead of tucked in the bowels of the fine print in font 8).

Do you think its fair or unfair for Amex to rely on terms after making an offer and then refusing to register people 2-3 days later without a prominent 'offer might close in 72 hours" banner on a postcard? . I think Amex shouldn't put too much faith in its standard terms ecept to the extent those terms bluff the unaware. And that's why regulators like the Director of Consumer Affairs can intervene in proceedings or initiate proceedings and run a quasi class action to extract a settlement for all consumers. Amex might not be out of the woods yet.

Received postcard for 5K/5T and registered on the 18th of September.

2 lots of 5k credited in Sept up to the 23rd like everyone else but no bonus points credited since.

Plot thickens as to why some are receiving points now and some aren't.
