10,000 bonus points per 20 transactions

Free v Jetstar before VCAT's Alan Vassie involved industry wide 'standard' terms, and I thought those clauses were declared unfair and void prompting Jetstar to boldly highlight 'names changes are not permitted' on the very prominent part of the website (instead of tucked in the bowels of the fine print in font 8).

Actually, IIRC, name changes were permitted at the time this case took place, what was at issue was the fees involved in doing so (i.e. what cost was there to Jetstar in making the change, versus how much they actually charged). After this case occurred, Jetstar started to disallow name changes.

Plot thickens as to why some are receiving points now and some aren't.
The plot certainly thickens. I can't think of any logical reason why some are receiving points and others are not. But then again why start using logic at this point....

I'm pretty sure Amex are beyond logic now. I too registered on 18th, with postcard, on 10T/5K. Made many transactions in October, none so far this month but that'll change in the next day or so, and no points. No POC. No Letter (abuse of promotion/cap/anything). No loss of any points.

If they start posting points within the 6-8 weeks of the original T&C's I agreed to (Amex have confirmed i'm still on the uncapped 10T/5K deal), then logic will kick back in for me. Until then, I'll just check my account daily until something happens.

I have started to receive bonus points again which are obviously being paid for November transactions. I appears that i have been transfered from 5T/5K to 10T/5K although. Received the 3rd lot of bonus yesterday so no capping. Have not received anything from Amex advising of a change though. Was not POC at anytime for the points earned in September paid on the 5T/5K..
:confused:

I have received std bonus point throughout, but since receving 1 instalment of 5,000 points in late September, I have not received any promotion points.

Has anyone heard anything from AMEX in relation to how they are (mis)managing this ?

It's interesting that some people seem to be getting points on a six week delay, some seem to be getting points based on November transactions and others (me!) seem to be in some points black hole.

Certainly seems to have sliced and diced us into different segments!

Yes,

- standard terms can be void for unfairness, as was the fee for changing the sister's seat into the daughter's name (or vice versa). So what can Amex rely on, and what can it bluff people with? And if it loses, as Jetstar did, does that open the doors to many people claiming compensation from Amex. I would if I was wrongly out on 10t/5k.

- Jetstar couldn't rely on a websites' fine print (Can Amex? And did its call centre staff really explain things properly. Exhibit A is 300 pages of posts on conflicting advice from inadequately briefed staff who didn't know what Luisa's level were considering as the next quick fix);

- Jetstar had to make the term very prominent (and I think Amex didn't, especially with the uninvited people);

Things will get interesting if Amex upsets enough people into asking regulators to look into things.

And another 5,000 points posted on the 10th Nov

So that for me now is;

5,000 on 19th Sept
5,000 on 3rd Nov
5,000 on 10th Nov

I am only making an assumption here, but I think they are starting to roll out points from start of the promotion as that was 6 weeks ago from the date of my first transaction after signing up, and my 2nd deposit of 5,000 points

I've made 129 transactions since signing up on the 17th Sept.. so they have a fair way to go yet :D

I think that they are giving points based on November transactions starting from 1st November. See how it relates to your November transations. Leaving the balance of September & October still to be sorted out!

I think they are actually continuing where they left off in September. I had 19 qualifying transactions in September and received 10,000 MR bonus points but was then POCed 5,000 MR bonus points. So based on 10/5K promotion I am only entitled to 5,000 MR points in September.

I was overseas for the remainder of September and did not return until early/mid-October. I managed to clock up 30 transactions in October but I would have to wait another 3 weeks before I see any MR bonus points for the October transactions. I have 15 transactions in November and I have not seen any MR bonus points yet for these transactions and I expect that it will be another 6 weeks before I see any MR bonus points for the November transactions.

Joined via phone before 19 Sept. No postcard, not POCed, no point deduction after 15,000 points in Sept.
No any points till now. Phone up and checked that I am on 5x / 5,000pts
Hope that they will come soon.

Well, up to 29 transactions (posted inclusing 10th) and with around 6 to post.

No postcard but signed up for both 20T/10K and 10T/5K on 17th. Rang on 18th and got 20T/10K taken off - had confirmed that I would have been targetted for 10T/5K based on my past transaction numbers.

Never been POcked, no letter, no bonus points starting to credit.

Owed 5K from September, 35K for October. Looking forward to them starting to flow.

Hmm - this is interesting. Juts reviewed my Nov transactions after another 5K posted today :)

The profile for Nov is:

5K on trans 10 but 2 trans that day
5K on trans 20 but 6 trans that day
5k on trans 29 but 9 trans that day
5k on trans 40 with 1 trans that day

So it would seem that points are posting on the day that a threshhold is reached and they are posting for Nov. It would seem very coincidental that points would be allocated to the 10, 20th and 40th transaction for nov in relation to the x0th transaction in Sep - given that they paid out on Sep already and my main bonus earning was 91 transactions in Nov.

Also based on their logic I did not put through enough transactions in Sep to support the 45K bonuses that they paid net of the poc amount.

I am currently short 16,101 points from Amex based on what has been paid to date and the number of transactions under a 10T/5K. Under 5K/5T I am short 100K points...

Another 5k to buff up my MR a/c points balance today. As of the original time of this post, it hasn't shown up in my MR statement online, but the balance has definitely increased by 5k (and no I did not buy $5000 worth of stuff yesterday, nor was I owed points for purchases of that sum).

Reference: I am a 5T/5k, supposedly uncapped (and somewhat confirmed despite getting three letters saying otherwise) since I registered on 17/09, I have a postcard (I have witnesses to that card!), never been POCed.

If it's anything to go by, the 5k for this month has been granted coincidentally every 5 transactions I've had for November. I don't like to think that the points are for Nov transactions, but I'm too busy at the moment to map them against the timing of my Sep or Oct transactions.

yeh, as silly as it seems, somehow I have managed to spend double what I usually do on amex, all the way up to my (very small) credit limit.
paying friends' bills, etc, tho maybe i'll have trouble if they ask me why I have 3 telstra bills/mth

I did a bit of an audit last night as I haven't really been keeping track of the number of transactions and the amount of bonus point credited/owed so here goes (bearing in mind it is the 5T/5K promo):

Code:
Month Transactions Points Credited Points Owed

September        23           10,000           10,000
October          80                0           80,000
November#        18                0           15,000

# up to and including 10/11

I noticed that there hasn't been any MR transactions since the 9th of November so they certainly are slow.
