26 hours without a post??? What is the world coming to???

Well it's coming to the end of Movember and time for a status update :)

Currently sat at 98 transactions for November with no transactions for 29 Nov going either financial or posting MR points. I think we had two transactions yesterday so we should hit 100. I might have a couple of orphans if I do any shoppng today.

Bonuses still posting 10T/5K so at the moment we have (points shown are 10T/5T):

Earned: 220K/110K
Paid: 85K/85K
Poc'd: 9K
Owed: 126K/16K

And still December to come

Well, I have just completed my 100 transactions for the month (getting petrol from BP and lunch for the in-laws), so await my rollover back to zero and start the bonus process all over again...but for the last time.

It wil be strange to drop down to 9K/month of points posting. If Amex live up to their obligations I should net around 350K+ points from this promo

Even with poor Amex -> AA conversion that could still net me around 150K AA miles being a J RTW :)

AFF Meet #2 helped me rack up a few, it was quite funny though.... everyone was rushing at each meal to get the AMEX out

Finally found a cafe near work that happily acept Amex for small transactions, so they are now getting my morning Chai and some of my lunch orders (Crema Cafe on Boundary Street). I think at least one other AFF'er I know should be a regular there with their Amex.

Another good cafe I've found that accepts Amex for my lunches is Cibo (my nearest is in New Farm, opposite Coles). Thankfully, it's close by Mrs LW's work so we meet there for lunch, but she's always there earlier than me (great to have a supplementary card).

Then when I'm out on the road seeing clients, Red Rooster has been getting my transactions - their minimum is $10 but that's OK.

Not all RR stores accept Amex. Some franchises seem to be able to make their own decision about card acceptance. For example, the RR at Chermside (Westfield) food court does not accept Amex. But KFC at North Lakes (Westfield) food court does accept Amex and no $10 minimum either.

Coffee Club also seems to be a good Amex option.

So been eating many chicken wraps have we? :)

The RR in Myer Centre (Brisbane City) does not accept Amex.

Nandos appears to accept Amex, although I can only confidently speak for Nandos Festival Towers (cnr Charlotte and Albert Sts, Brisbane City), as well as Nandos Paddy's Markets (top floor, food court level) at Darling Harbour, Sydney.

As NM mentioned, the Coffee Club also accepts Amex; if you're really desparate and don't mind coughing up for an expensive sandwich :(, almost any 7-11 accepts Amex with most having a measly minimum (viz. $2).

7/11s in NSW have a $5 minimum, from what I can find. It is irritating when you just want a drink.

Coffee Clubs here are a $10 minimum.

Starbucks is minimum-free!

Was doing my Points Run again yesterday at my favourite Shopping Centre(because it has oodles of Amex accepting stores...)...and had two Sales Assistants ask me the same question...

Them: With smiling face You must love shopping?

Me: No. I hate shopping (which I do)

Them: With puzzled face But I see you here ALL the time :confused::confused:

One I just smiled at as she was busy with more customers waiting...

The other I actually explained why.

Was buying a minor item ( a drink) from a supermarket and it scanned at a slightly higher incorrect price.

On querying it was told that the store policy was that in such cases you get it free. Normally one would be delighted...but in this case as there was a bit of a queue (and hence making a second real purchase would take a bit of time I offered to just pay the lower price...only to meet a firm desire to give me the item for free :(

Decided to upgrade one of my daughters mobile phones by entering into a new 24 month plan witha nice phone.

While bartering for the best deal the assistant says no worries worries and gives me the first months free!!!!!:( er says I....that is great..but can I pay up front and get cash back later.... no say the assistant. The current deals won't allow that.

Seeing my obviously horror he then includes another $15 free up front...thus pushing my planned two txs pre-Dec 31 till post Jan 1

Still my eldest daughter is most please with her new phone (a present for finishing VCE).

All my points running (shopping) has had a minor unexpected financial return.

On one occasion spotted a small piece of red paper on the rgound being walked over repeatedly. Looking familiar I picked it up and was the proud new owner of a 20 Euro note!

Have also found a $10 Aust note too!!

My nearest Coffee Club does not have a $10 minimum. I regularly purchase a large takeaway iced frappe for $6.20 with no problems using Amex.

Oh, the calories! :p

My dads Amex received a promo postcard in the mail today. 5,000 points for every 5 transactions for the month of December. Up to a maximum of 10,000 points. I had him sign up to unlimited promo on the 17th of Sept. They better not be getting cheeky because they haven't notified any change to the fact that he is signed up on unlimited promo

Oh, the calories! :p
Not too many. I ask for the skinny version, so the only ingredients are ice, skim milk and the flavouring (late is most common option, though their pine/lime flavour is very refreshing). I always decline their option for "splicing" with ice cream.

The thing is, around the 31st December, are you going to say goodbye to these people or just be the one that they'll say "remember that guy that USED to come in here every day and buy something on his Amex?"

I've become quite friendly with the people that work at the Starbucks stores in Sydney city - they know my drink (a Tall Chai Tea - "not the latte, the tea bag") and they always smile when I turn up.

Another guy who works at the Coles Express on Parramatta Road, Five Dock, cottoned on very early that there were people running up transactions regularly on Amex and started people if they were "on the promotion". He now asks me periodically when I stop in there "how many points have you got now?". I still have no bonuses post Sep 24th, though.

It's the 5th December that is the 10 weeks since the bonus points stopped posting - I'm expecting to see a BIG upswing in posts in this thread when that comes around, either because Amex are finally posting, or more likely, that they aren't posting and we start to get the "I spoke to a CSR at Amex and they said this/that/whatever" posts. Brace yourselves!

I've also become quite friendly with a Starbucks store in Brisbane. At least two of the baristas that work there know me by name, and they almost guess my order all the time, except that sometimes I can be just as fickle as a woman.

It's a shame that there is only one coffee shop on campus that accepts Amex; not only do they want to charge an extra $1 on top of the already slightly expensive price, but I always find their coffee quality to be a bit of hit-and-miss. Whilst Starbucks probably does not represent the best in lines of coffee, it is relatively respectable IMHO (I'm no coffee expert here, but I can tell bad coffee when it's served) and, considering the more respectable coffee places do not accept Amex, it's a quality I can tolerate.

I generally haven't gone for the Starbucks coffee, but I can say that the quality of the Starbucks coffee has changed since I first tried it in California in the late 1990s. In Australia they've made it less bitter, and a bit smoother - I think to suit the Australian palate which is used to good Italian coffee!

Anyway, it's hard to screw up a tea bag. And the Organic Chai Tea they have is nice - I really enjoy the strong cardamom flavour!

NM, I'd forgotten my love for Coffee Club, my local at Albany Creek will get to know me well in December (and Charlotte loves Babychino's and ice cream)

Beardoc, another Chai drinker....although I enjoy both options.

Just had a (work) partners' lunch at Wagamama's in the Valley and I got to pay with my Amex..got paid in cash for the other purchases.
