I am not sure that's an argument you want to have considering only one person has won the first argument.

Very poor form AMEX very poor!

I have compared my two postcards and taking into account what has been on this thread, I strongly suspect that it would override my previous enrolment.

Although one could argue that they are two different promotions, for which I have two postcards.

One could...but early in this thread someone posted that he received all 3 of the various original promos
Yet after that the T&C were amended to state that you could only be in the one.

Can I enrol in the promotion more than once?
No, only one registration is permitted per eligible Cardmember.

American Express will be tracking instances of multiple enrolments and for those cases identified your Membership Rewards account will be amended to reflect one enrolment.

I personally do not believe the Amex databases to be very good.

I was sent a 5/5 postcard...and was later mailed a confirmation letter that I was in the 5/5 offer despite (it stated in the letter) not having been sent a postcard!!!!!!

.....so you would want to be very very sure that Amex would consider it a different promo.

How is the "explain yourself to AMEX" going ?

Nothing further to report at this stage - awaiting AMEX's response, meanwhile I am working on the assumption that it is "business as usual".

Given the "abuse" letter allowed them 30 days to respond, I expect that I and others in the same boat will not have a clear outcome until more or less the end of December. Even that may be hoping for too much, but at least at that point they will have breached their response time promise and the FSO will be happy to take over if necessary.

The promo card is one of two things:

1) A genuine additional bonus
2) A deceptive mechanism to allow Amex to cap.

Would seem the consensus here is that it is the second.

I think it's because we've seen so many changes, so many suggestions that it's going to end, etc. that we view ANY potential variation with suspicion.

IMO I think it is more likely to just be that insde AMEX that Arthur does not seem to know what Martha is doing....and that it is just but one of a long line of promos that are sent out (though it may be deemed as part of the current promo).

1B) Genuine...but due to poor (or non-existant) internal cross checking and auditing has meant that some people in the existing promo were sent it.

Are these new promo post cards using the same keywords for registration as the original promos?

My new one says REWARDS as the keyword. (5K/5T but capped at 10K for the month, and only valid until the end of December).

No, the keyword for mine is BONUS. If you go to the link (americanexpress.com.au/bonus), it does not take you through the landing page for the other offers.

It looks very much like the same promotion I had before, just with the cap, and a more extensive T&C's section

Well, I haven't got a postcard...but I wasn't postcarded the first time either (although I've been postcarded for the BP and Colorado Group offers ).

# up to and including 1/12, with at least 3 transactions to post from yesterday/today (plus any from my wife). Goal is 120, so I'm on track for my target

Roll on 4 December when (for most of us) our first bonus points should start to post again (bringing Septembers' bonus points to account) *hooray*.

I would like to suggest that a wiki/information page to be setup.
If possible, the main bits of information would be ACCC/BFSO/FOS whichever organisation we are supposed to contact in order to lodge a formal complaint about our points/enrolment.

I enrolled pre-19th September, and have been patiently waiting for the points to appear. I thought a wiki type page would be very useful for those members who have not yet been through the complaints process.

Cheers.

What I find "interesting" is how some people have started to receive points and some haven't!

Seems to be no method to the madness

A quick summary:
Points posting overnight
Points withdrawn
8-10 weeks given as timeframe for posting of points from the time that the number of eligible transactions has occured.
8-10 weeks given as the timeframe for posting of points, but now from the end of each month
Some points posted in November for some people and not others
I am just waiting for the next announcment that points will be added to accounts 8-10 weeks after the close of the promotion.

I like the concept but gievn that we have 3000+ posts here with many dramatic interpretations, conflicting opinions and total garbage (mind you at least he has stopped posting for a while) I fear that a Wiki page would just be a repitition of this.

Oh and another data point:

Interestingly I too had 102T in Nov - mind you 5 of them were non-eligible as they were in HK.

So I am now 131K bonus points under 5T/5K.

I'm on the 5t/5,000 promo and haven't seen any points since Sep 24.
I hope Amex have plenty of call centre staff rostered on for Dec 3/4/5 because I reckon they're in for a flood of "enquiries".
Code:
Month Transactions Points Credited Points Owed
September 46 25,000 20,000
October 134 0 130,000
November 133 0 130,000
December 11 0 10,000
I thought I did quite well to equal my Oct tally in Nov as the first week of Nov was spent overseas.

If and/or when Amex come good with the points I should have around 440,000.

I've been more generous than usual with my charitable donations recently and this year's Christmas presents, as well as next year's birthday presents to family and friends will be "Wish" gift cards. Woolworths, Movember and World Vision have done well out of this promo, not to mention my local sandwich bar and BP Express

Having worked on several wikis, both general purpose and specific interest, I can say that you'd be surprised how much comes out of them with people collaborating. I think it would be a good idea. Yes, there is disagreement at times, but that can be incorporated, and the continual re-editing often leads to a better body of information. The only time that it fails is if someone thinks that their writing is the truth rather than one of many contributions, and they don't like it being re-edited and try to revert everything.

Some of the better wikis are:

Wikipedia (obviously)
Anaesthesia MCQ (the one I study with!)
Main Page - Encyclopedia Dramatica (trust me, this isn't even remotely politically correct - be warned)

wiki is a good idea. at least instead of telling people to read the last 5000 posts (or even the last 50) you can point them to read maybe 2-3 wiki pages.

I'm at work atm so cannot properly check my statements, but when looking at my MR account just a few minutes ago, I had 1 lot of 5K deposited on the 27th Nov and then another lot of 5K deposited on the 29th Nov....

Tonight I am going to get nitty gritty and go back to Sept and check the correlation between my transactions then, and the points deposited now. There is no correlation between the transaction in Nov and the points deposited during that month, so I would love to know where they came from... and hopefully will make more sense of it tonight.... as a CSA told me 3 weeks ago that I was on the 5T/5K promotion...

Not trying to sound like everyone else, but I am really really stumped on this...
