I am getting a website error when I try to register
"We're sorry...

This offer has been temporarily suspended due to operational issues. Please try again later. "

Yes, the offer has been closed down for new customers. If you received a card in the mail about the promotion, then I would suggest calling Amex, but you can no longer sign up online anymore.

I have had no MR transactions appear since 17 Sep. I have had 7 financial transactions hit the card (including our Doctor who I note takes Amex - which we hadnt done before - good work mrssimongr).

Yep, doctors are getting Amex more and more because Amex are offering them a merchant rate of 1.49% (plus GST) through the AMA.

Thanks, I signed up a few days ago so pretty relieved. I just assumed the worst that the whole promotion had been binned .

Re: Where is the TERMS AND conditions disclosure statement ???

The Terms and Conditions of the promotion are on the postcard Amex sent to those people the promotion was for, so they have sent a printed copy of those to the correct people.

So for those who were targetted (ie postcards) what sort of cards do you have?

I wish Amex would offer all merchants such deals. In my local area the local pharmac_, independent bottle shop and half a dozen restaurants have all stopped accepting Amex in the past year or so.

When I quizzed them about the reasoning behind their non-acceptance, they cite the exorbitant merchant fees. It's annoying that they still display the "Amex accepted here" sticker on their front door.

I've spoken to Amex about trying to get additional merchants to accept Amex, but they don't seem too keen to listen. In the past most utility company's (gas, electricity, water) did accept amex, but not anymore.

I also am waiting for anything to show from the 17th Sept. I wait nervously especially with the news that it appears to have closed for people not already registered.

Can't say I have ever really paid attention to when the MR points transaction occurs, but perhaps they have stopped them flowing through while they check what we have all signed up for!

How does that merchant rate compare with other American Express merchants? Or other credit cards (e.g. Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, Bankcard)

Just wanna know - my mum was an Amex-phobic (esp. me getting one), because she thought the merchant fee from Amex was prohibitive, thus I wouldn't be able to use my card in places I'd like to, and if I could use it, there would be extra charges on top for it.

Of course, so far I've proven her wrong. The Amex lady that told me I had successfully obtained my Amex card said they were doing things to help merchants accept Amex, but I have no idea as far as figures are concerned......

Call amex line for Qantas card - they have my card number so can only assume they know I'm a Qantas card holder not a MR rewards holder :-)

Call one to amex: Hi I'd like to register for the transactions bonus points program - myreward...

AX: Want does your offer say

Me: don't have my postcard in front of me, said register code MYREWARD.

AX: Thats fine, let me explain it (5000 points per 5 transactions, must be in calendar month to get bonus and so on). Your registered.

Me: Thanks (All done hang up.)

Think about it, whats the point of registering if my card won't get any bonus points?

Call Two (To Qantas Amex classic line): Hi I just want to check that my qantas card was eligible. I didn't receive the postcard my *flatmate* did. (Aka frequentflyer.com.au);) and I called and registered. But I'm not a MR holder? So did I register?

Amex (Harvey): ummm.... let me speak to my team leader. (couple of minutes later) okay you are automatically enrolled in MR, however you can't redeem on anything from the catologue, you can only have your points sweep to your qantas account. So your registered using your Qantas classic card.

Me: Great I just wanted to check I was eligible and didn't do anything wrong.

Amex (Harvey): No diffiantly eligble and your fine.

Me: Thanks.... (heart starts singing)

So there you have it - Qantas card eligible, have to call to register. But I guess the proof will be when and if I start getting points!

Still only one of the transctions from the 18th showing and not the rest of them on my MR account.

Hopefully updates later today

Now though off for some shopping, the important factor when I walk into a shop "Do you take American Express?"

:D

To those who are receiving points - did you register for multiple promotions?

(I have a terrible feeling I'm not going to get any points)

yes...and I rang amex to specify that I only want to be on MYREWARD and it was changed. No questions asked. I have received 2 lots of 5K points now.

does anyone know if they will post the bonus points over the weekend or it only get posted on weekdays?

It normally works like this (from what I have seen in the past)

The merchant runs usually happen at night from that day, so if you log in around midnight to your account you should see the transactions from that day.

The membership rewards *usually* updates around about 10am the following day.

So a transaction on the 16th should appear on your card that night, then on your MR account the next morning (on the 17th).

On the weekend, it *usually* updates the MR on Saturday morning, and that's it til Monday. Also the account balance won't update til Sunday night.

This what I have noticed normally happens with mine.

To those who are receiving points - did you register for multiple promotions?

(I have a terrible feeling I'm not going to get any points)

Yes. I've already received 1 lot of 5,000 points and I registered on all 3. I'm waiting til the next update to see if I will ring up or not (there is another 10+ transactions in my statement but not on my MR account). It just appears there is a lag in points being credited to MR accounts at the moment (perhaps they can't keep up with the processing???)

I saw this a couple days ago and managed to get registered online for all three codes, then rang up to have the first two deleted and keep MyReward. I am not very frequent here as I am only a leisure traveller but I have been planning a trip to the States for next month so lurking a bit more and lucky to see this.

I haven't gotten a post card YET but I noticed the last time there was a major promotion (PC points 50% bonus back in May and SPG going at 1000:600 until the end of this month), I didn't get my postcard until about a week after I first saw people posting about it.

Yesterday, we did the grocery shopping--in 4 different supermarkets! I also visited separate businesses for medicine, t-shirts, coffee, magazine, snacks, etc and have only just start to hit online shopping. I wish overseas purchases counted as I am going nuts on Ebay and Amazon.com right now. Be careful of Itunes, they tend to do "sweeps", so if you buy some tunes, they combine all transactions on one invoice. Once you have been sent an invoice, you cam buy more Itunes on a new invoice.

Yesterday, I walked out of Maccas, Subway, KFC, Red Rooster, one small coffee kiosk all in the mall as they didn't take Amex. I also walked out of Nextra, a couple of clothing stores, can't remember what else.

I don't think MR points post over the weekend and so far only my transactions at the giants: Coles, Woolies, BiLo, Target and KMart have posted. I am waiting with baited breath until Monday! (now there is a switch-looking forward to a Monday)

I am trying to get as many legal transactions (no bill splitting or abuses) but will drink more coffee, top up my car more often, buy sandwiches instead of bringing them-stuff like that before the SPG rate goes back to 330.

I also escalated some small pruchases I would have waited on until later so they can be included in this promo.

Hey Guys! Long time lurker first time poster also!

I just thought I would let you all know that I just rang Amex Membership Rewards CS to ensure that all cards linked to my account would be eligible for this offer. Whilst the CSO advised that this was accurate, he stated that all people subscribed to the offer would be receiving a further mailout shortly advising that the Terms and Conditions have changed and that all promotions are now capped at 40,000 for the entire duration of the promotion!!

Can they do this!?

I am enrolled in the 10,000 per 20 transactions. I have been confused by tht T&Cs. The card says 20 per month from 10th September, when I registered it said from 1st September. I had already done 30 transactions since the 1st, so I rang Amex to check.

I was told only transactions from the date you enrol are counted for the promo. So, as I enrolled on the 19th, only transactions from 19th to end September will qualify toward multiples of 20 transactions for Sept. :(

So, regardless which promo you are enrolled in, only transactions after your registration date qualify. Any purchases before registration are not counted.

The T&Cs of this promo are vague to say the least, I would have thought all transactions would count from 1st September, regardless of signup date.

I had a couple of transactions that I paid last weekend, but did not post till after I signed up. I am not sure whch side of the ledger they will come in at. I guess I will have to make sure I get a couple of spare transactions in this month.
