Yesterdays Bonus

For what I see, some people received 10K, others 15K, and others 5K yesterday…Just as a matter of interest…. Do the points add up to 40K ? (if you add your September points plus yesterday bonus points)

It could be that they are giving 40K for the whole promo to each one of ya

<insert buzzer sound here>

Wrong answer, try again.... (or maybe don't)

As a matter of interest if you read the recent replies you would see that points vary all over the place, in total I have recieved more than 40,000 points, and have it in writting that I should expect to get a lot more points coming.

Thanks for dropping by Mr Branch

;)

I have received 95K under the promo - 40 pre end-Sep and 55K after that.

A piece of advice for everyone. Certain posters have frequently posted erroneous information - I would suggest either ignoring the posters or ignoring the information. This is a general comment that I like o post occasionally to ensure that people do not take in misleading information and is not in any targetted at one particular poster.

And I thought some of my conspiracy theories were creative.

Just as a matter of interest why are people not using, or threatening not to use, their Amex cards just because of a botched promotion that looks like getting back on track slowly? Last time I checked it was the best credit card MR program available and we should be grateful to receive any bonus points. Makes sense? Possibly not....

I may or may not have received the 5000 points I am owed for September - I can't check.

I signed up for their new Rewards Maximiser card. At the end of November, my statement carried the notification that my account was now closed. I was, however, able to put through new transactions, so it obviously wasn't closed. I checked with Amex who said it was a stuff-up and I should expect my new card in a couple of weeks (or at least a month since I first applied). The old card would not been cancelled until I registered the new one.

When I checked my MR they had been transferred to a new account. Which is a bit strange since theoretically, the new account doesn't exist yet

My apologies - I meant to say Rewards Advantage, not maximiser.

Here is my 2c worth of response to your very rational query (warning, the answer is not nearly as rational as the question):

Firstly, I am not so sure that it is getting back on track. Sure some are now getting points but most of these appear to be based on 10T/5k when at the least many are entitled to 5T/5K (simongr and myself for example). Granted, half is better than nothing, but I wonder how satisfied the staff of ABC learning centres will be if they are offered half of their entitlements? I doubt they'll dance away happily saying that it is getting back on track slowly!

Secondly, perhaps I am too cynical, but I am not going to be grateful for something that is only offered to me because some else believes it to be in their commercial interest.

Thirdly, I agree that MR (at least with 1.5/$1) is the best rewards program. And I will continue to use it post promo. In the mean time though I am going to be careful to follow the spirit of the the promotion and only put my "everday" transactions through Amex. Large transactions are not "everyday" for me, but tiny little ones are :p. Of course I am doing this firmly tongue in cheek, and losing marginally on bonus points, but considering I believe I am owed in excess of 500K points by Amex I will happily make the sacrifice.

Finally, if they really screw me over, I will cancel my card. I can afford to lose a few points to make a small stand. I don't do business with people/organisations that I don't trust or find ethical, no matter how profitable the relationship could be. This is the same moral decision but with a much lower opportunity cost than the average business decision.

 had a big laugh at this

Excellent timing simongr

Yeah... I had a big laugh at simongr and Alanslegal message as well...

Cos I havent been Capped, POCed or Changed to 10T 5K

Keep in mind that I am also entitled to the 5T/5K promotion, irrespective of whether I was targetted or not and also signed up for the other 2 promotions, as I successfully signed up and received the confirmation message. As for multiple sign ups I never intended to be in more than one promotion, I simply thought the system was smart enough to keep a track of the last promotion signed up. My mistake I did not take a screen capture of the confirmation.

Good luck to anyone that takes action against Amex and wins. Please don't get me wrong I don't want to see my bonus points halved but I do not have the time or the energy at the moment to chase up ~70,000 bonus points so as I have not really lost anything I hope to be getting ~70,000 bonus points from this promotion....

Gee this is a hoot..
Yesterarvo we receive 5k points.. the first since the pocing and
deleting of the first 5k points credited way back at the start.

This morning they were still there ( sometime they evaporate..)
This afternoon they have morphed into 10k points.
Not another 5000 .. the 5000 is removed and replaced with 10000 Bonus Points.. no reference to any promo.

Interestlngly, my transactions from yesterday still haven't posted (5 expected)...and this is the first time they haven't posted by early afternoon (maybe an anomoly, maybe not). Don't know whether the bonus points that posted yesterday have had anything to do with throwing a spanner in the process, but this goes to the lack of confidence I have in understanding anything that Amex do at the moment.

No new points for me (targetted, 5T/5K, but flagged for abuse). I did get the letter yesterday about not having been targetted - which is old news already.

But some fun offsetting news - just had a friendly call from our friends at QF to say I'd won seats in the A380 promo - London here we come :D Doesn't quite make up for the AMEX mess but I'm looking forward to the A380 regardless (pity it is in Y and not upgradable, but I can hardly complain).

BTW on my display at least, this message is fittingly on page 380 of this thread.

No new points for me either (they only owe me another 5k for September). Not targetted, signed up for 5k/5T September 19, no letters, no communication at all. Hmm.

rodgerbranch,

If you actually read the last few pages of the thread you would know this is not the case. Alternately you are being mischievous again :!:

bonus points appeared?

:D Checked my amex card online today... 5000 bonus points turned up on 10/12... I haven't signed up for any promotions so I'm not sure why they have been given to me.

I did try to sign-up for myreward in September, but got in late and was later told I was never registered. (I have a qantas amex.)

Has anyone else been given random bonus points this week?

Should I call amex and find out why they were given to me (worried they might take them back)...

Re: bonus points appeared?

lol @ Amex. <plays Circus music>

Don't know. There has been a point posting frenzy recently with Amex starting to catch up with transactions from Sept for the MYBONUS et.al promotions. People who are on those promos are reporting similar bonus point postings, so you've been targeted somehow from that even though you didn't register.

Well Well... Yesterday Points may not be Related o the Promo at ALL
