Been trying to opt-in to this offer on the AMEX website since yesterday but the web page is down. After a couple of calls I got through but they insist that I must have the postcard and that the web site offer is meaningless without having the postcard in hand.

On top of the fact that I soon won't be able to transfer points to Qantas this Platinum card is looking like a dud with high fees, thinking I'll dump it when it expires end of November. :(

Hi Soundguy,

The Platinum Card will still be able to transfer to QF.

There is so much anger in this thread. I simply made my post due to it looking like this guy deliberately tracked down a shop that sold $5 shirts... no need to jump down my throat for making an opinion. My point was not the purchase price, it was the fact that he said that he hunted down a shop that sold $5 shirts to rack up the transactions... If he bought it legitimately then fine, I apologise..

I have lurked here for over 12 months and not once has there been a thread with such anger and venom directed at other members... I guess I'll just sit back and continue reading and resist the temptation to press the reply button...

But the accuracy may be somewhat dubious. I am not sure how the counter handles people who browse in tabs? Can they be counted as viewing multiple threads concurrently?

Hm... very good question. Could easily be tested, but I really can't be bothered doing so right now...:!::shock:

And does it count invisible people??

Sounds like the AA forum on FT :rolleyes:

Do you have the platinum credit card? Platinum charge card holders are being offered the move to premium ascent - basically nothing will change and you can continue to choose to send to qf or anyone else for that matter.

The inability to register for this promo does not impact on the underlying value proposition for the card surely?

Yes, to clarify it is the Platinum Credit Card and I sure won't be paying the $600+ extra annual fee for the doubtful pleasure of moving to the other Platinum card with 'premium ascent'. Unless there will be a new option of direct transfer to AA as an alternative to QF it will go, but I would have kept it longer if this promotion was available.

No, they were never taught arithmetic as invisible school.... funnily enough, they could never find the entrance.

However they have perfect attendance records as no one could see them taking the day off.

SHUT UP! What anger are you on about?

I'm jus playin, but you did make your post in an insulting manner and you still do not get our point.

He can buy whatever he likes for whatever the price. Your point is invalid, wrong and nonsensical.

Its a misappropriation of taxitude and you should withdraw your comments on that users shopping habits and apologise.

Otherwise sit back in your corner and pout like a hurt puppy

Judge not.... etc

By the way Tiki is a she...and not a he...and has written some great and detailed posts in the past.

From them I know that Tiki is not blessed with the high salary of some on this forum...and so I think the jibe about her buying $5 T-shirts is most uncalled for.

Like many on this forum she has a genuine passion for travel and she has used this forum to try and increase her travel as much as she can to satisfy that passion.

I assume the invisible people are in the guest count.

I wonder how many people quickly registered?????

Human nature is to procrastinate.

So in terms of the total mai-out, even allowing for those that found out about the offer via the internet, it may well be that in the scheme of things that not an overly large number of people registered before the new "t&C' was imposed on registrants.

Still trying to pick myself up from the floor...

This thread has became so... pointless.... yet so addictive! It's like watching an episode of Seinfield.

There's Kramer (those panicking of the points cap) "It's freaking me out!".
Seinfield (those playing cool just waiting to see what happens)
Elaine (those patient enough to be still doing the explaining)
Costanza (Mushroom Man)
and of course, Newman (AMEX? LOL :-)

No offence intended for anyone - just found it really funny.

Btw I just realised that I'll be doing my DONE4 in Nov/Dec, which means most of my spending would not attract bonus points anyway.....

This one has to be recommended for Post of the Year surely???

After wading through countless pages and numerous posts of dribble this is a stand out, kind of reminds of the light bulb thread but we wont get into that one will we?

EDIT:As an aside - apart from the Totally Off-topic thread, what else has had the most post count. I reckon that this one will be up there with the best of them.
