10,000 bonus points per 20 transactions

Others have posted about this message but I would recommend phoning Amex and asking them to enrol you in the offer.

I enrolled in one offer then heard of a better one so got on the phone and the op sorted it in under a minute.

Just phoned Amex customer service, only to be told that they also can't access the reward section, so they couldn't register me up for the EARNPOINTS promo via the phone either. Said to try again in a few days via the website or by phoning them. I also rang the Amex Member rewards section only to be told the same thing.

I signed up last Thursday. Made 13+ transactions, lowest $4.99 at Coles.
Grab 10,000 (2x 5,000) pts.

Anyone got >40,000 pts?? now?

Just curious to see whether the "40,000" cap really exist??????

In the Amex website/rewards/my transaction section, do you guys actually see 5000 points posted every 5 transactions?

My points come out irregularly, I cannot tell which bonus is related to which 5 transactions.

Ditto here. No correlation either to what's shown on the billing section.

I appear to have been granted 3*5000 bonus points and 1*10000 points bonus.

If this is correct and I have been granted both bonus codes I am waiting for the points to be removed at a later date.

I first signed up for the 20 trans for 10000 and then the next day signed up for the 5 for 5000 program and it looks like the system has processed both although i phones Amex and asked for only the 5 for 5000 bonus.

Oh well here comes a high balance for a few weeks and then the big drop when they take them away.

Hopefully one bonus code will stay and I can still get a few bonus points.

What does this mean? There are seems to be an element of smugness in the comment. The fact that ejb expects points to be reversed does not imply that a cap will be applied.

Obviously things could change going forward but that would again be pure speculation.

Up to 24 Aussie transactions and 2 USD ones (which arent included in the promo). Still two Aussie ones that haven't posted yet-ITunes and Subway. So I should get another 5000 bonus plus the normal points, the USD ones were sizeable as travel related.

How often do AMEX MR points update online?? i guess its as often as the merchant terminals report back to AMEX.. (not not all terminals post after a transaction) most will pre-auth and then not upload data for a number of days (up to 7).

Im hoping that points that accrue over the month cut off due to merchant terminal late uploads are still going to count...

Interesting question re month ends. My experience is that transactions go financial overnight and then hit MR around 9AM the same day - except over weekends.

My MR account updated around 7.45am this morning (AEST). It may be the case that the processing gets done in batches and hence the update time varies from person to person.

You seem to be signed up for three different promotions, so perhaps any capping may be related to each individual promotion??? But we are all just guessing as to how is may work. Nothing like a good dose of speculation to start a new day!

Anyway, in relation to Qantas branded Amex cards - my father's card who I signed up on MYREWARD through the call centre 'in good faith' is acting interestingly.

He's made quite about ten transactions and reported back that he is not getting those bonus 5K points per 5 spend however;

What he is getting is a bonus 0.5 points per $1 spent. Interesting?!

In reading that he spend $269 and received 470 points in total ?

I just flicked a wad of points to my SPG account. If they go back and reverse points I am not that fussed as I am getting benefit at the moment from the better SPG transfer rate

So far I have received 3 x 5000, 1 x 10000 and 1 x 20000 bonus points. This is on approximately 25 transactions since I signed up. So either I'm only getting the 5000 pts per 5, and their system just bunches it up into larger lots of points on occasion, or I'm getting points for all three promotions (but in which case I'm not getting enough of the 5000 point lots - maybe I should complain )

I dont understand this. There are as I understand it three promos:

20 trans - 10K(a)
10 trans - 5k(b)
5 trans - 5K(c)

There is no 20K promo.

Are you sure you didnt get 20K in one transaction that came from multiple bonuses? Did you click on the + sign next to the transaction to show the breakdown of bonuses?

Just trying to work through the mechanics of how they could get to 45K including a 20K.

Trans 1-5 = 5K (c)
Trans 5-10 = 10K (c + b)
Trans 11-15 = 5K (c)
Trans 16-20 = 20k (a+b+c)
Trans 21-25 = 5K (c)

Totalling 45K

So it looks like you have got exactly what you expected - although you should in theory only get 25K.

Personally if I get 5K for every 5 transactions and I run negative whilst points are reversed, I will be happy. I am on 23 transactions since I registered and reckon I will have another 7/8 before the end of the month - at least in time to flick points to SPG whilst the 600 ratio is in play.

I then have say 40 transactions per month for Oct-Dec which 120K bonus points - all this assumes no cap of course.
