In the adbsence of any advice to the contrary I am just assuming that the Pre Sept 20 crew are on the T&C's in force at the time.

The two groups of people that things are not so clear for are:

1) Post Sept 20 registrants who believe that the CSR's had advised them of different terms
2) Pre Sept 19 registrants who have had some points reversed out - we don't know why that happened.

Perhaps we can take this even further...

GROUP 1 (PRE 19 SEPTEMBER CREW):
Group 1A (PRE 19 SEPTEMBER POSTCARD CREW):
Got a postcard, but fit into one of the following subcategories:
Group 1A(i) (19 SEP OPTIMISTIC POSTCARD CREW):
"I signed up by 19 SEP, got a postcard, so must be on the old, unlimited' promo!"

Group 1A(ii) (19 SEP PESSIMISTIC POSTCARD CREW):
"I signed up by 19 SEP, got a postcard, but am mystified as to whether the amended terms and conditions affect me."
Group 1B (PRE 19 SEPTEMBER, NO POSTCARD):
Didn't get a postcard but signed up in time:
Group 1B(i) (19 SEP 'LUCKY SHAG' CREW):
"I signed up by 19 September so am not subject to any amended terms and conditions because Luisa said so."

Group 1B(ii) (19 SEP 'NOT-SO-SURE' CREW):
"I signed up by 19 September, but have a Qantas or Corporate Amex, and don't know whether I'm Arthur or Marthur."
Group 2 (POST 20 SEPTEMBER CREW):
Group 2A (POST 20 SEPTEMBER POSTCARD CREW):
Got a postcard but didn't sign up by 19 September...
Group 2A(i) (POST 20 SEP 'SLATER AND GORDON' CREW):
"I got my postcard but wasn't able to sign up in time as there were system issues. I'm subject to the new terms and conditions and I'm not happy. I'm going to sue."

Group 2A(ii) (POST 20 SEP 'GLASS IS HALF FULL' CREW):
"I got a postcard, didn't sign up in time, but I have the terms and conditions sent to me in writing, or the CSR told me verbally. So as far as I'm concerned, I'm not subject to any amended conditions, so I won't be signing up under the new Everyday Spending promo."
Group 2B (POST 20 SEPTEMBER NO POSTCARD):
What promo?! ...
Group 2B(i) (CSR GAVE ME THEIR WORD):
"I was told no cap would apply to me, but I will need to wait until things pan out. Then I will consider my options."

Group 2B(ii):
"I'm happy with 40k points thank you very much."

Group 2B(iii):
"40K? Pft! Donate me some points, else I'll call Slater & Gordon."
Group 3 (PANIC MERCHANTS):
"I don't have any points posted since 25 September, so the deal must be off! None of the categories apply to me. I may or may not sue. I'm transferring all my points out of MR now, because whatever is left in there will be reversed!"

Does that about cover it? :D

wiz that is just beautiful. Could you please send a copy to Amex so they can enter it into their database. That way when I phone I can just identify my group. I am sure they would appreciate it. Would save them a lot of time listening to my long-winded sad story;)

Did you not read the new T&C posted above?

Re: Well... Its not over till is over.

I dont know If you understand that Frequent Flyer Programs are made as a reward for people who Fly Frequently and not for people to go trough a All you can eat Points bonanza via a partners program and jump infront of those earning points by flying

Please give yourself an uppercut

AMEX staff would had already read and digested wiz's post by now ...

Just had a quick review of my transactions for Sep - 37 since the promotion started...

I'am in 2B(i). I will definitely complain because I clearly asked the cap questions twice and the lady clearly reponsed me with 'no cap'. I will keep calling them until I find some one who can help or until I feel enough. This is not the first time Amex delivery wrong information to me. Everytime I keep calling them day by day until someone fix my problem.

Just to let people know, I didn't receive the postcard but enrolled on the 18th August. CS have confirmed I'm still enrolled on myrewards and my points are not limited, but they will take take 8 to 10 weeks to post.

excellent news, are they prepared to put that in to writing to clarify for all. It will save their CS staff a lot of time with all us ringing !

Cheers

Anyone ever ask whether it counts from Sep1 as advertised, or from enrollment as it seems?

Guess this thread will start to take off if points arent posted in 8-10 weeks time.

Given some people are reporting their intent to sue if points don't post immediately  I think you are being optimistic ;)

Also then when points do post can you imagine the number of "I had 37 transactions - why did I only get 10K points?" posts....

Starts from when you enrolled.

The actual promo started on the 10th of September as well

I phoned when I first enrolled and asked specifically if transactions count from Sep 1, Sept 10 or registration date. Was told from date of registration in promo.

wiz, that is simply an excellent precis of most (if not all) possible scenarios in which members find themselves and I'm sure a lot of people will appreciate the time and effort you put into creating it. I certainly do and I would recommend everybody read it and assess to which group they fit. I think I'm a Group 1A(i) member.

All of this has certainly made me log into MR on a daily basis (I'm sure similar for most here) and made me more aware of the program. It certainly made me remind myself to transfer my points to SPG, then to AA (which I have done over the past 2 weeks - transferred my existing balance excluding any bonus points earned in this promo).

Like most here (I feel sure), it has meant [and will mean until 31 December] an increased use of Amex (to the detriment of cash and other credit cards) and I'm sure the majority of members have not abused the offer, but rather have used it to their best advantage by using their Amex for everyday purchases (exactly what Amex want - of course, they'd like to see it continue beyond 31 December as well). There will always be some people who go overboard (possibly both AFF members and non-members), who by their actions sometimes spoiled the offers for the greater number.

I was signed up on 18th to 10T/5K points (as I wasn't eligible for 5T/5K) and just looked at my current transactions and noted that I have received 5K points on 21st September and have just met my next target (had 11 since my first bonus credited). So I have an "accrued and unpaid" bonus point balance (5K) that I feel confident will be credited in the future in line with the T&C's (even if it does take 10 weeks). I look forward to October now.

According to the rep I'm not enrolled at all, ... but I've got all these bonus points at my airline ff program at the 5k/5t ratio, a $80 amex fee on my card on 18th Sept for, I thought, joining a 5k/5t promo, and I've got these internal confirmation numbers for the transferring points that hadn't hit the airline's computer yet. So do we add another class of people, namely people who get points without even joining? Anyway I'm off to see if I won Tatts without first getting a tatts ticket.

Hey, careful there. Sounds dangerously like you might have had a reason to not believe what they'd told you, if you have experienced "wrong information" from them in the past.
