Again I post and say that this thread is AMAZINGLY WICKED!

This promotion is far by the best and wildest promotion of this decade!!

I would dare say that any changes by AMEX retrospectively or introduce cap would make this promo close to F.A.R.C.I.C.A.L ;)

Ps. thanks File51 for advising your updates re:woolworths, much appreciate your openess and frankness to correct.

Before people start not using AMEX because they are worried they will go over the "40,000 cap" which we have yet to see officially implemented...or more importantly... officially confirmed by an attempted change of the terms and conditions.. which clearly say unlimited!!

Why don't you all just use AMEX and log onto the online MR website and track your transactions... you will quickly notice if the bonus points don't post.

I know they haven't imposed a cap yet... because i have earned more than 40,000 bonus points so far.

Fortunately, FFers of status have access to more award seats than non-status people with large point balances.
Only in economy though...

It is probably only a marginally less controversial topic than this ;)
There definitely was a thread on this. When Qantas 'redefined' T class from Elite Economy awards to Y+; they arranged the ability to define elite economy awards as a "sub-class of X". Earlier this year it was apparent this was extended to have elite award availability for other cabins as well. It was only last week I could see 1 F seat MEL to LHR on my WP account, this seat was not available when using mini serfty's NB account.

Also, the first two lots of 5K (5x5) have come through on my Amex account.

At this rate we may have to start a competion on the best refuse to use a merchant because they dont take AMEX :D.

This is what AMEX wanted to do with the promotion - make people realise that their card is accepted in more places. Its just a shame that if they introduce the 40,000 point cap this goodwill may be lost.

Though remember mine was recalling a tale from two decades ago....and would have been VISA or even Bankcard.

I will be very upset if I made a special effort to seek out stores that sell $5 t-shirts and accept Amex was for nothing. I am always happy to comply with the rules of a promotion but the company should clearly state them and even if they stuff up because they didn't think things through clearly (such as the people planning to rort the sytem by paying their bills $1 at a time or paying their groceries one bread roll at a time). I knew when I first read that, those people would ruin it for everyone.

No offense, but spending $5 on a t-shirt is just as bad as paying $1 increments of a bill... IMO... :)

Ah but the mystery deepens in that reports are that although miniserfty may not have been able to see the bookings online, if minserfty had called the call centre they would have in all likelihood had access to the seats.

Whatever Batman, for what reason is it bad, Amex make a set percentage off every transaction and I'm sure with a minimum fee, so they aren't worried and neither should you, go waste your time withdrawing cash from atms, whilst we have a record of all our spending and proof of purchase without having to keep receipts

Yep as I said there is definately more seats available SOMETIMES for gold and above.

Then you add the "more seats available when calling the call centre than using the internet" scenario and it's even more frustrating.

Well I would disagree here. A $5 t-shirt is as a legitimate purchase as any other.

Everyone has different tastes and budget, especially for clothing.

For example, my father who drives a nice european saloon loves to clothes shop at Lowes. So you cannot judge anything ;)

I don't think so.

I see buying one T shirt (whatever the price) as perfectly legitimate.
Buying two or more T shirts in the same store at the same time in separate transactions is comparable to paying $1 increments of a bill. Buying a single item is not IMO.

Got my first 5000 points on Qantas Amex. Great!

But is there a minumum spent of 10$? Looks like only transactions of 10$ + have been counted.

Is the 40.000 points CAP now for shure or just a rumour? Any more official replies from AMEX?

Can anybody else who has recieved points confirm this?

There has been nothing to date to specify a minimum spend

(although it wouldnt surprise me one bit)

Tried to register today and got the following response...

We're sorry...

This offer has been temporarily suspended due to operational issues. Please try again later.

I've made a couple of single dollar purchases and they have been counted towards my 5 purchases

No:

Rumour still.

I'm about to pay two SA Water bills online and there's NO WAY that I can use Amex. It'sVisa or MC only.

Oh the pain :(

What does it matter if someone is passionate about an issue and wants to discuss it with others. I suspect your response to this is coloured by your not being enrolled in the promotion
Actually I am enrolled in all 3 promotions and I am almost certain that I am eligible for one of them although I would not be able to confirm that until tomorrow.

As to your concern that this thread will result in "the chance that the promotion will be altered" well you need to catch up it already has.
Too late. Never release information to people who have no idea how to behave or use the information wisely.

Carefactor = 0
Great attitude. Thanks for your enlightening contribution to this thread. How is your case shaping up against Amex imposing new terms and conditions after the original promotion?

I must bow down and respect those with 8,000 posts
Forgive me for being just a newbie oh Master..:rolleyes:
So what wealth of knowlege have you shared in this thread ? All you have done is quoted people and tried to make yourself superior ?

The new T&C's are NOT official yet
One person has reported going over the talked about 40,000 point cap
When I receive the letter I will then take it up with AMEX.
AMEX have ALWAYS looked after me in the past with credits for various stuff ups on their behalf, so we shall see what happens

Oh sorry I am posting too much again
