Approved after applications team rang me about the payslips Id submitted. They took off my wife's Id sent since it was only worked out on personal income, and then adjusted everything and still approved me there and then even though I would have been well under the required income :P

Which is better: Altitude Rewards or Qantas FF for the point earn on the Altitude Black card?

Earn rate seems to be the same.

What do you mean by earn rate?

For me it is airline points per $ spent. My preferred program is Krsiflyer and I for example value a Krisflyer Point as being worth a lot more than a QFF point and easier to redeem for J/F as well in my case.

[TABLE="class: table table-striped, width: 1020"][TR="bgcolor: #E9E7E1"][TD="class: col-sm-2"]Points earned on eligible purchases - American Express Card (Australian Merchants and Overseas Merchants)[/TD][TD="class: col-sm-5"]$1 = 3 Altitude Points[/TD][TD="class: col-sm-5"]$1 = 1.5 Qantas Points[/TD][/TR][/TABLE]

So if I spend $1000 on the Black I can earn 1500 Qantas Points or 1200 Krisflyer Points. So for me if I had to spend a $ I would opt for the AR Option.

However at present for churning it is 100K QFF or 100K AR ( = 40K Krisflyer) and for earning ($$spend) I will use my Explorer for 2 KF points per $ instead.

I now rate this card as a "churner" and as such it is QFF for me.

Prior to Westpac devaluing the KF transfer rate and the emergence of the Amex Explorer my Westpac Black was an "earner"card for non-supermarket/gift card spend and so it used to be AR for me.

I applied for the 100k offer via Pointhacks.

In the Dec statement I got 50k bonus. However, just got my Jan statement and no bonus. I guess I assumed it would be paid in consecutive months. All seems a bit random when some get the 100k in one go. I am now wondering if I am going to have to chase the second 50k, Anyone else had the same?

Same, I am going to call Westpac and check what's going on. Might also worth contacting PointHacks to let them know as it is an exclusive promotion between Westpac and Pointhacks.

Hi all - in case you missed it earlier in the thread, I run Point Hacks. To be clear, this wasn't an exclusive promotion between us and Westpac - it was available to all of Westpac's advertising partners, it just wasn't / isn't available on the main Westpac website.

As I said before, I'm happy to help with anyone experiencing problems with getting the full points bonus (no guarantees of course, it's totally with Westpac to fulfil this offer), but you'll need to be sure you have met the $5k minimum spend criteria and have waited the full 60 days since the minimum spend was made. If that's the case, please shoot us a message to [email protected] and we'll take it from there.

Interesting. I just got my January statement and it does not have the additional 50,000. 60 days from hitting required spend is on Sunday, so they still have a few days to award the points. I will send them a letter next week if I do not receive them.

If we do have to approach Westpac, what are the words we should use to get them to investigate, if we think we have fulfilled all the criteria. When I spoke to them during the application process, the phone agent disavowed all knowledge of the promotion and said I had to work through PointHacks.

That problem got sorted, but it will help further actions with them if we can quite the name of the promotion in general, and anything else they may find internal to Westpac about the wider promotion.

The terms clearly stated the points would be paid in 2 portions, and 60 days after minimum spend, so I wasn't too fussed, but having seen that plenty of people got the points in one 100k hit, I'm keeping a close eye on it.

I'd read somewhere (since applying) that ad-blockers can affect tracking cookies and am wondering whether that could be an issue? I'm a couple of weeks off 60 days too, so I'll wait it out before complaining to Westpac.

I refuse/block all cookies that don't look directly related to site operation. It better not be an issue. I didn't see a T&C where I was required to let them spy on me in exchange for the points.

I'm not particularly au fait with technology, but I run disconnect and ublock in chrome to try to tone down analytics, tracking cookies and banner adds. I read somewhere recently (unrelated to this particular proposal) that sometime chrome plug ins of that nature can prevent the target website (in this case westpac) from knowing you've been linked in by an affiliate (point hacks). I can't remember if the westpac site listed the bonus points or not - I think it did though.

Anyway, its probably nothing, and someone with more technological nous than me can probably shoot this down...

EDIT - actually I've just remembered, the article was to do with the velocity/qantas estores and people having issues with receiving points after clicking through to the relevant shopping site and it being related to add-blockers or otherwise. And thinking about it, I've never had that issue, so it probably/hopefully isn't that...

Firstly, I'd suggest not mentioning a specific advertising partner (e.g. Point Hacks) - as I said before, the offer is available through many different sites and referencing a specific site might add to the phone agent's confusion. Something like "I applied for the 100,000 point offer on Altitude Black that was made available through some of your advertising partners since October".

I think the key thing is to point out the specific page on the Westpac website that you applied through. Westpac themselves are responsible for fulfilment of the offer, not their advertising partners. The URL in question is:
Code:
http://info.westpac.com.au/creditcards/westpacblack/altitudeblackexclusive/?promoCode=AMEX1
.
AMEX1 I believe is an offer code in use internally for this promo, but not all phone agents are aware of it. It may help to ask for a supervisor.

I'd also suggest figuring out exactly when you met the minimum spend and when the 60 day wait period would have been up in advance of your call, so you have that clear to discuss with them.

On other comments on cookies & ad-blockers - in our experience, ad-blockers generally don't affect offers through the application process; they are kind of 'hard-coded' into the offer you apply for. I guess there could be exceptions to that, but not that I have seen in working with most of the major banks yet. Blocking cookies probably would affect attribution of the customer taking up that offer from a referring website, i.e. could prevent Westpac from attributing your application to us.

Am in the same boat, 50k given last month, just got my Jan statement and no points showing.

Anyone spoken to Westpac yet and had an answer on this?

OT/ but I'm now wondering if the S is why my last three purchases via Cashrewards didn't track (Hilton, BA & Accor)

same for me (applied thru PointHacks) except I haven't received my Jan statement yet (should do on 22nd), I'll let you know if I get the 2nd 50k in a few days.

Update, my statement received today does not have the 2nd 50,000 points on it. Looks like a phone call is in order.

Don't forget, even computers don't work on a weekend.

If not in by 5pm Monday, complain.

Wastepac is pretty atrocious at dealing with customer complaints. Need a chill pill before contacting them. Good luck!

The statement lists the points earned and any bonus points due. If they aren't on the statement they aren't going to be transferred. Waiting a day won't make any difference.
